What are people’s recommendations for the best WW2 era military planes in FS2020? I already have a Spitfire I love to fly, so don’t recommend that (although I dare say it’s high on most people’s lists!) but any other well simulated, fun to fly planes from that time period? I’m thinking mostly small fighters but if there are larger aircraft you particularly recommend, I would be interested too.
NOTE: I don’t use FS2024 at the moment, so please no FS2024-only aircraft.
The Milviz/Blackbird Corsair is high on my list, along with the FlyingIron birds that I own: F6F Hellcat, P38 Lightning and their version of the Spit (I don’t own the AH version nor do I know which version you own). GotFriends’ F4F Wildcat is also great. I hear very good things about Blackbird’s newly release Zero, though I don’t own it myself.
Seconded on the Corsair, Mustang (Echo 19 sounds required), and anything from FlyingIron.

Duckworks DC-3 improvement mod, just amazing.

Beechcraft Model D18S with the Denarq improvement mod.
There is a great selection, and it’s hard to go wrong.
Curtis C-46 is one of my favorites.
Curtis P-40F is excellent.
The Hawker Hurricane is excellent, and it has nice textures.
The F7F from Virtavia is actively developed.
The XF-11 from Flying Fries is from that era, and it’s lovely.
Also worth mentioning that Echo 19’s Mustang sound pack is also compatible with the Asobo P-51 racer.
Flying Irons P-38 is fun as heck to fly!
One of my favorite planes in the sim.
Anything flyingiron I have them all bar the hellcat and beautiful planes to fly and feel like old warbirds
The Lancaster is another great buy

Highly recommend anything from Flying Iron-such a pleasure to pilot!
Any of the Flying Iron planes as has been said above - but if you plan to move to 2024, they’re less great for now.
The GotFriends Wildcat is is fantastic in 2020 and 2024.
I also enjoy the C-46, but it’s not on par with the others exactly. Hard to go wrong for $10 though.
Paired with the above mentioned Asobo P-51d mod it is the best Mustang in the sim & it’s only going to get better. The guy developing it is getting assistance from real warbird pilots & people with simulator development & there will be a heap of future updates/upgrades as he moves along. The T-6 mod is being developed with a real T-6 pilot/owner assisting & doing flight testing etc.
Also there are native FS2020 & Fs2024 versions. They are however modern civil representations with no WW2 military gear. Also recommend Bomber_12th excellent repaints for these models, no easy task considering there’s not yet a dedicated Asobo paint kit plus these are faithful repaints of restored aircraft both inside & out!

The vast majority of members over at Sim-Outhouse are big fans of vintage aviation - especially warbirds. Some of them are well-versed in the smallest of details, historical facts, etc. If you want to know which of the many offerings are worth buying, these are the people to talk to.
