Just got that message again. This problems always occurs for me shortly after the release of a new version. The longer a version is out, the more stable the sim runs. I wonder if these issues can be caused by server problems.
for my part everything was fine before the version of early December 2022. Since then I can make a flight even quite long of the order of 50 minutes with a simple plane like the cessna or the DR 400 and everything is going well with minimum settings no real weather no world air traffic and fps at 40, but as soon as I want to make a second flight the system crashes either when returning to the main menu or when loading the second flight and to my amazement sometimes the 3rd flight . all applications are closed, my GTX950M card is up to date, my computer is clean, my connection is 1GB fiber optic, wouldnât it be coming from the servers because it crashes faster for me in the afternoon than in the morning, because I am in France and in the afternoon America wakes up. I use the Microsoft store version and I have tried for two months all the suggestions suggested in the previous posts
This error is completely insane.
I got the error after upgrading my computer (cpu + graphics card)
no OC
Everything went perfect..everything.
except msfs âŚ
first the classic ctd almost every flight then this Graphics-Card-Error.
Almost always in the menu without much strain on the system.
ok. error analysisâŚall is perfect. no errors in the system.
other games with a high graphics load run perfectly.ok.
driver reinstalled
windows reinstalled
sim reinstalled
the error remained.
new motherboard
new ram.
nothing helped.
and thenâŚall of a suddenâŚnothingâŚ
the error is gone. just like thatâŚI donât know why.
now i think its just a server problem.
but at least I have a new computer now!
OK, I tested the system offline. it does not change anything: CTD from the 2nd flight. I understand less and less
Im done with this sim. Like when will it work properly? It is amazing the issues that seem to continually be a problem seem unfixable. Microsoft servers it the problem thatâs causing all these issues. One would think if thereâs one company that masters server systems it would be Microsoft.
OK PIREP #2 - After having been able to fly pretty extensively over the weekend, I am now getting the Graphic Card Error pretty much right after the plane is parked on the tarmack. The only change that I made was to install FSLTL, however that should not make a difference since I tried starting the sim in âsafe modeâ and still get the Card Error at the GPU spike of 100%.
Just freezes for about 15 seconds, then immediately shuts down with no message. It happens as it starts checking for updates.
I was able to revert to a very old Nvidia drivers and get it to work for now, but every time another update is installed I think, âThis is it, they finally found a solution!â, then it crashes as usual, and I waste more time trying to get it to run.
Itâs just gotten beyond frustrating at this point. Weâve all been more than patient, especially considering how much we paid for this sim.
Same error arriving to EDDF.
I thought the problem was the nvidia driver, but not, i think is the area.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OPâs steps to reproduce it?
Yes.
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
After a few weeks of having the issue, for a few days the error message would not appear. Now after three days of flying it appears approximately 2 minutes after loading the sim and the plane is on the ramp.
Are you using DX12?
tried it with both DX11 and 12 with the same result.
Are you using DLSS?
no

Just for info: Itâs totally absurd, but I havenât had any crashes since i modernized my complete pc for 2500âŹ
It really seems to be hardware-dependent, which of course explains why only some users are affected.
It doesnât seem to happen due to the graphics card. Because that is the only component that I have taken over from my old PC. Strangely, however, the crashes had stopped after I reduced the GPU clock.
Same for me. It was there 5-6 days ago when it crashed for me in menus. At the same time i saw there was a Steam-advertise showing up at my main screen. So I tried this:
BEFORE:
- Start steam.
- Start flightsimulator by rightcklicking steam and choose MS. My steam friendslist is visible on my secon screen at all time.
AFTER:
Same procedure as before, but closing the friends-window on my second screen, meaning closing/minimizing Steam.
After that I have now been able to fly for like 1,5 hours. 1 hour in a plane+airport that got me crashing in 5 minutes every time before this.
I guess though that my finding could just be synced with something changing on serversideâŚWill keep you posted how it goes on flying with closed down steamâŚ
Tanks, ok but I donât have a Steam version but a Microsoft store version and I only run this version and I donât see how to solve a server problem. especially since I tried the software offline and I always have the return to desktop when I return to the start menu or after launching a 2nd flight
Well, the Steam-thing seemed to be a âShot in the darkâ. Now it crashed after like 25 minutes over the Caribean in a Cessna.
Getting sick of this bug and for each and every time I get my hopes up it shows it down my throat again. Over and out for a few more weeks until next try and I am sure as hll not going to by anything for this sim from the simmarket or elsewhere before this is fixed. Its been here for almost half a year and the only thing that has been said is that it depends on the specific hardware is not coping with the amount of memory (that the sim throws at it).
Totally agree.
Having known this I shouldn´t have bought the game in the first place.
Releasing frequent updates until it makes the game unplayable for many people is just not very proper way of doing it.
The sim worked perfect until the âPre-Xbox-updateâ and then it took a while for them to get the framrates up again (one of them causing clouds to look far worse than before the update).
After that it was stable until sim update 9 introducing this bug and while more and more updates are getting ready fo be released, they say nothing about this. I think it´s a shame.
For me itâs the opposite. Never had this error before until I upgraded my GFX card to a 4070ti a few weeks ago.
Hi all,
While troubleshooting this issue, we recently encountered an unexpected fix for a user who has been having this problem. Weâd like to share this workaround to see if any other users would like to try it too, but please note it is still experimental and will delete your logbook and reset some settings.
Understandably, we know not everyone will want to try this. If you do try this workaround, please respond and let us know how it goes for you.
Delete your Cloud save: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409228619538-How-to-delete-a-cloud-save-on-PC-to-fix-some-loading-issues-or-reset-the-logbook
Delete your Steam Cloud save: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/7058965875356-How-to-delete-a-Steam-cloud-save-to-fix-some-loading-issues-or-reset-the-logbook-
Please be warned that deleting the Cloud Save will wipe your logbook permanently and reset some of your settings such as key bindings and peripherals profiles. You will not lose the achievements already unlocked on this profile, but progression towards achievements and the logbook information cannot be recovered.
In addition, Nvidia launched a new driver yesterday, version 528.49, which has helped some users, so we recommend you update the latest Nvidia driver if you havenât yet done it.
When installing the new driver, a clean install is best to make sure no custom settings are left with Nvidia Control Panel that may have caused the issue previously.
Feel free to keep us updated if you try any of these workarounds â thank you!

I have been plagued with the error since Asobo introduced the message (SU9 or SU10?). I was unable to complete any flights. The error could happen 1 minute in, 10 minutes in, at fly now, etc. With GA or airliners and no matter where I was trying to fly (namely, totally random). Only in rare occasions I was able to complete a flight.
I had tried everything I could possibly find in this thread and elsewhere, to no avail.
I incidentally found what fixed the issue for me, while I was working on my custom loop and had to position the case flat. While using the computer with the case lying flat on the ground I realized that the error was gone and I was able to finally fly.
I then notice that even though my EVGA Rtx3090 FTW was well positioned in the PCI slot, because of its weight, it was flexing a bit (just slightly).
I then used the tool that came with the card (see picture below) to support the card making sure that it could not flex at all. It has been two weeks since I did it and havenât experienced any crash ever since.
My guess is that the heat produced by the MB and the card make the PCI a bit âlooseâ and make the card crash.
It might not be the solution for you, but if you are desperate as I was, itâs worth a try.
Happy flying!
My system: ASUS maximus xiii hero with Intel 11900k @5200, Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 64GB (2 x 32GB) 3600MHz (XPM enabled) .
Only in flightsim? Doesnât sound right.
I have also had a couple of weeks crash free after I manually updated the nVidia Frame Generation .dll. That was until this morning when the crash returned:-(
Also excess sag can cause issues.
exactly⌠and therefore these âtoolsâ are in package of the cards and there are often lots of warning from manufactor that users must use that. Also the mainboard manufactors mention that, also for boards with âextra strong pci slotsâ. In worst case the mainboard will be damaged if the weight of the gpu cards are not âsecuredâ with that tools.
And example from a manual form msi board ( z790 ace ):
