Warning: Your graphics device has encountered a problem

True, I was just asking if you had increased or reduced the timings. The long standing advice is to reduce or completely eliminate all overlcocks, so running memory at stock values would be included in that.

That said, I have been running my system with an XMP profile since day one, and it hasn’t caused any issues. It’s also not very aggressive.

For me the same, The TDR tool does not help for the
DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (0x887a0006)
error.
I tried

  • the latest driver 546.17
  • 526.98 (recommended by Microsoft for this problem)
  • 528.49
  • 537.58
  • 546.01

HAGS on and off.
Crash, crash, crash with DX12

Nothing helps.
Annoying. For what did I spend more than 2.000,- for a DX12 graphics Card?
NO FRAME GENERATION POSSIBLE!

Yeah, I’m on AMD with EXPO timings and … it gets involved as to what is “stock” I guess is the best way to put it.

I’m sorry this didn’t resolve your issue. We probably don’t have the same error. However were you able to identify the error which precedes the CTD of FS in the Windows event viewer. This is valuable information to know exactly the cause of the crash. Is everything okay in DX11?

HEY GUYS

I think I found a reliable fix (hopefully works for you too).

I was getting this error every ■■■■■■■ session… Never had this issue before.

4090, 13900k 5.5ghz, 32gb 7200mhz ram, z790.

Using Reverb G2 v2 and always have played in VR without an issue.

SO ANYWAY DOWN TO THE FIX. ( after literally trying ■■■■■■■ everything since the world update.)

SWITCHED TO SIM WORLD 14 BETA having read there are a lot of bug fixes. BAM no problems at all. I just had an hour session and I toggled in and out of VR multiple times, as well used a window overlay to watch youtube in the cockpit. Before it would crash either in menu, on start, or in cockpit when i toggle out of VR (would have to start entire session in VR from menu for it to work).

Anyway thought I would share this in hopes that it helps you guys too!

Cheers

Have now flown 5 sessions successfully without any hitch, where as before it would CTD with hung message every single time. Switching the world sim 14 beta 100% fixed the issue for me anyway.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

Did all the steps as mentioned before, still doesn’t work.

Are you using DX12?

No

Are you using DLSS?

No

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

I have an update.

Firstly, i found what was causing my sim to crash when i turned off the display. It was one of my USB devices. There are many posts on this specific as well, in terms of USB devices crashing the sim, hearing the disconnect sound, causing long freezes etc. For me it my headset so i have switched to a bluetooth one for the time being and so far so good.

Now regarding the error, i started getting it again and i think i found my problem. Despite thinking my undervolt/clock on my GPU was stable, well it wasn’t. That is what is causing this crash for me and i suspect that is what is causing it for a lot of people out there.

My advice if you have overclocked/undervolted etc. Be true to yourself, test the sim with it removed (yes your temps may be sky high and thermal throttle etc but see if it crashes)

Or run something better to test your clock such as timespy stress test and a timespy benchmark!

I came to this conclusion because the sim started crashing on what i thought was the most stable driver. After messing with my overclock for hours on end again i realised it wasn’t stable so i have re-tweaked the profile and now with ultra pre-set, lod at 300 on a 3090 and 787 going to/from heathrow, i am back to error free. I have also tried 2 different drives and both have been fine, though for performance i am now finding 536.99 to be good. I have yet to try the latest drives, i didn’t want to change too many things in case it crashed again but i am fairly sure that it was my GPU settings all long.

Again, if you have been messing, reset MSI, lower your settings to compensate, test for a little while!

I am very happy to know that everything is fine on your part now.
Thanks for sharing and I hope this can help many people.
As you say, all this has already been mentioned on other occasions but it is good to remember it and share the sensation of another user.
Thank you again for sharing and I hope and pray that this helps many more.
Happy flights!!!

Hey folks,

after playing the game for more than 140 hrs without any issues, I had to recently format the external SSD which I have it installed on (issue not related to MSFS).
I did the reformating, and then reinstalled the game via Steam. SU 14 was also installed, while the last time I played the game I ran SU 13.
Now when I try to play the game, I get the below linked error message every time. Sometimes even when the sim is loading the main menu.
I did not change anything on my PC in the meantime.

What have I done so far?

  • Reinstallation: Removed MSFS via Steam, then reinstalled it. Admittedly, I pasted the contents from the “MSFS/Packages/Official” folder, because I didn’t want to redownload the 150 GB again. But this isn’t really hardcore-installation related content afaik, and more content for the sim, so I’d have thought it shouldn’t make any difference.
  • Driver updates: I updated to the latest NVIDIA drivers (546.33), without difference. A downgrade to 535.98 (535.79 was the latest recommended version, but couldn’t be downloaded) also didn’t help.

Hardware overclocking is disabled too, but as I said, the sim worked perfectly fine in the past, so I’m at a bit of a loss of further solutions here. Could it be SU14 related?

Thank You very much for your help.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No.

In Windows Event Viewer, what is the error that immediately precedes the ….006 error. It may be the unresponsive system file “nvlddmkm”. In this case I may have the solution. Let me know

Yes indeed, I get two “nvlddmkm” related log entries.
First one is a warning, 36s before the MSFS application error, basically saying “display driver “nvlddmkm” not responding and was restored”.

And then, 22s before the MSFS error I get this error:

Loosely translated something like “event-ID “0” from source nvlddmkm not found. Component either not installed or faulty installation”

Notably this crash happened during the initial loading screen.

Try that , my anciens post on november

Hi everyone, I told you about the problem with my video card which, although modest, gave me complete satisfaction until November 2022. Still this problem returning to the main menu and this famous message “your video card has a problem…etc. .”. I tried all the things that some of you recommended, low resolution, underclocking, removal of cash but to no avail. the problem comes from the access delay to the nvlddmkm system file but here is what I found: the solution is to use Tdr Manipulator and increase all the delays and not only that of Tdrdelay in the registry, attached the screen photo of my settings with Tdr Manipulator and for 5 days I no longer have any problems. please try it yourself and tell me what it does for you. Try https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/TDR-Manipulator-V12-Released

I get this error already in the main menu, when I use DX12 and hardware acceleration on in windows settings. My system:

7800x3D
RTX4070
32gb DDR5 5600 mhz
2560x1080 100 hz monitor, I use adaptive vsync half so it locks at 50 fps.

I want to use DX12 for frame generation. However I am completely unable to. I lowered texture resolution etc to lower my vram usage but it is of no use if it already happens in the main menu.

Using DX11 gives no problem at all.

Is there anyway I can use DX12 and frame generation? Better question: why do I get this error message when other people are well able to use DX12 and FG? What can be wrong with my system?

I can narrow it down pretty much to DX12 since I only have GSX as an add on, and everything works on DX11.

Thanks for all the help!

does this happen with a specific plane? I encountered this kind of issue quite a bit past months though now i didn’t see it anymore

are your driver up to date ?

Is your 4070 OC and are you on the latest drivers? I have a 4070 and got that error message once but that error came when I had MSI afterburner installed. I no longer use it though.

Also set your Nvidia CPL to default and see what happens.

Hello guys, I’ve managed to fix the overheating message / “nvlddmkm” issue on my end.

My fix for the “nvlddmkm” / GPU overheating message issue:

A BIOS update to the newest compatible version did it for me, now the sim is running like before. :grinning:
Check that the new BIOS is compatible with your PC / Laptop though. For me, I downloaded the new bios from lenovo’s support website after selecting my specific laptop model.

I had a bit too much respect of doing it the way @CorpsCoureur492 did it because I know too little about the consequences of adjusting such settings. I’m just very happy it works again now.
Maybe this will help some others encountering this issue too!

thank you very much, I’m glad you found a solution that works well. The one I chose has not posed any problems for 2 months. you just have to make sure that the W10 updates keep the same settings, otherwise you have to redo them

Unfortunately this bug is back with the latest NVidia driver! Am I the only one seeing this?
