if CTDs as you mention are old to the sim, & that the sim got out of these errors & then got back to them, then that shows the need to dedicate a special care for the matter to get stability always not sometimes.
what you described reminded me of what Xbox Studios head Matt Booty has said about being the days of single-studio AAA games are ‘long gone’ explaining that (The idea of a single team under one roof really doesn’t happen that often anymore).
my point is that this is the way how things can be ULTIMATE, by special dedication.
I rather suspect a slight undervolting caused by the driver which would concur with acceleration needing to be turned off … IMO the CTD or message appears just as it starts ramping up.

I installed the latest Nvidia Studio driver (522.30) released yesterday and for the first time in a week, I haven’t experienced this error message during flight. No difference in performance but a much more enjoyable experience!

Everything is possible. & your point kinda deep.
my quote from matt booty’s statement isn’t aimed for this issue, but to point the future of developing that the industry is going forward to.
iam too have no issues from the new nvidia driver (Game ready version), certain conflicts of the newest driver are limited to some hardwares and some systems using 22h2 specially, and some managed to overcome some of them.
& generally the sim runs perfectly, the only problem is the sudden of this error interrupting you, thats all.
I really wish we could roll back updates, because the game was a joy to play the last few months until the latest update and all the problems it has brought. Cant even get through landing challenges without CTD

That would be a perfect choice. if not possible, @ least a restrict procedures of launching betas is a vital need!

Oh this would be so good. I would go to SU4 and stay therefore ever before it all went downhill after SU5.

Three CTD’s with latest nvidia drivers, before that hardly any CTDs in over a year.
Now back to previous drivers (sept version, 517) seems to work

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
no
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
Are you using DX12?
no
Are you using DLSS?
yes
If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
Yup that seems to cure the issue although I seem to manage with just HAGs disabled.

Hi all,
I have been struggling these last two days to get rid of this message and consequences. Without any success.
Then, this morning, I’ve just made an SFC/scannow as suggested, and then it got back to normal, or so.
As you can see on the picture, I’ve lost part of the ground texture..
I installed MSFS on my laptop overnight (I admit I dont have a 4000€ laptop, but It does what he has to do). This morning I go to my PC to check If the installation has ended but Im left with the “classical” “your graphics device has encountered a problem and Microsoft Flight simulator will exit.”. Tried to close and open again the sim but I am left with that message whatsoever. May the problem be I installed it on a D: drive?
Not likely. It is most likely that your laptop got too hot, possibly because you were stuck in the menus without a frame cap (you can limit fps in NVCP or its AMD equvalent).
Oh, thanks so much. I also noticed my graphics drivers are a little bit outdated and I will update them before retrying opening the sim. I’ll let you know if I solved it!
The best first thing to do is lower your settings as the message displayed to users is very generic.
See this other posts with Microsoft answers: Warning: Your graphics device has encountered a problem
I get it while loading. I can’t even get into the menus.
Have you tried the studio driver? is HAGs set to off?
no, the error during installation is the weirdest thing in this bug, & raises the possibility being the issue not with the graphic driver but with the downloaded files (su10 update itself).
i was interrupted during installation too, & was forced to start again.
its true that the error is random & dose’nt happen all the time, but the problem is that flights usually takes hours, & its not pretty to lose hours from your time due to this error, that what make people really upset, if it were another error that does not take your flights from you, people won’t be given it that interest.
Thank you for posting this. I tried the NVidia App to check for the new driver, and it told me that mine was most current, so I went to their website and grabbed 522.30 and installed it - then checked to make sure it had been updated.
Time to do some test flights!
UPDATED After doing some testing: I got the message again, while doing a Mach 10 run with the Darkstar, frame froze at one point, and - as I expected it would, I got the crash notice, and the game went CTD. (Crash To Desktop)
ANOTHER Update: I do not normally use the nVidia graphics overlay thing where I can see what might be going on - but while I was opening up MSFS, I hit Alt + Z, and it crashed whilst starting. I have no idea what that might mean, or why it happened.
