10GB, what?
Ha Ha! You don’t need to download the whole sim for each SU. And yes it’s big but then again so is the world you are flying in.
We are talking about the ordeal in resetting a PC.
I dont think theres any confusion in how big a sim update is. That was never in question.
The ordeal of resetting a PC? … Solution - google to find out just how easy it is.
This is just nonsense now and not helpful at all.
If you want help you only have to ask, there are plenty on here that can including myself.
No thanks. I dont need your help.
Man, I love the “Alpha’s”!
I can remember when I still had enough energy to participate…
But even just the memory tires me out!

BTW, another factor that I think is kind of an elephant in the room is VR. I wonder how many of the 338 voters here are experiencing this issue in a VR set-up.
Easy for you but not everyone.
Remember Senor Wences? ![]()
Remembered.
It’s not difficult, Windows even asks what you want to keep.
Everyone, let’s get back on topic about the issue. Thank you.
Are you able to get a latest update from Asobo on this issue? Nothing has been said from them regarding it really and it’s obviously a widespread issue that has cropped up more with SU10 and it seems to be quite vague in it’s meaning, but I assume Asobo are implementing things to try and understand and help fix or identify the issue, SU11 perhaps?
Hi all,
I’ve been having the same reported issue since SU10. No issues prior, but failed 100% of the time subsequently. The only thing that varied was the time it took to show the error. It usually occurred during the “preview” or soon after the actual sim got going and I was lined up on the runway ready for takeoff. Occasionally it happened during menu changes. Note, all if this is in the “past tense”!
After days on end changing every setting imaginable, applying new thermal compounds/pads to GPU (an nvidia GTX-980M [8GB VRAM] MXM in my Alienware M17X-R4), and having cranked up the fans to max. and checking all temperatures in HWInfo64, I concluded that overheating was not an issue (max temp for the GPU ~73C). Neither was overclocking the issue as it’s running at stock speeds. Nevertheless, the problem persisted.
Almost ready to throw in the towel and wait for Asobo to sort it out, I decided to give DeltaTango756 's temporary solution a go, so I changed the drivers back to an older version (from 471.41 to 391.35), but ran FS2020 without rebooting after the nvidia driver ‘setup’ routine finished. During the setup I allowed the program to install everything (the default option), which included Geforce Experience and everything else it wanted to, which I have never done in the past (I usually just install the drivers). I launched FS2020, fully expecting it to crash again, and it worked fine. I took off, swapped views, panned around, exited, resumed etc. etc. Perfect! So, following DeltaTango756’s experience, I rebooted my laptop, and re-launched FS2020. Now, if I understood his findings correctly, his crashed at this point i.e. after a reboot. Mine, however, worked flawlessly. I then updated my drivers back to v471.41 without using nvidia’s setup i.e. I updated in Device Manager and pointed Windows10 to where the drivers were, and “hey presto”, I was back to 471.41 and FS2020 has now behaved itself for the past 3 days without a single crash! So, I’ve gone from a 100% crash rate to a 0% crash rate after around 15 to 20 FS2020 launches with numerous aircraft, including my favourite FBW A32NX, settings back to ‘HIGH-END’, internet live weather and live traffic re-established and all is well!
My conclusion is, in my particular case, some files must have been missing that nvidia’s setup executable using its ‘default’ option adds to the system.
Hope this helps others.
I have had the same problem that everyone has today, still not solved and I have tried with two different cards, an EVGA 3070 and a Zotac 3070ti and the CTDs continue with the happy message. Neither lower the graphics, nor update the drivers, nor change the graphics, nothing…
As a moderator, I do not have any relation to Asobo. All I can assure you is that they are working on this.
Easy for people like us but we are privileged to have knowledge.
Very interesting work.
Yes I understand but there are some that think they can make more or less blind changes to their system and Asobo should cure the mess they make out of it … It simply can’t be done
