B777-200ER GE variant
KLAX-LSZH

First freeze occurred around 20 mins into flight - EFBs both on the W&B page, aircrsft in LNAV and VNAV auto mode. Controls all set.
15s freeze - all systems locked and flight movement ceased. Engine noise pitch modified. Flight then recovered. Following first instance, there were three more whilst in cruise at FL350. One was less than 5s in duration, another other 20s. Destination ETA changed by 1 minute (was 1013z, now 1014z)
Left flight to run overnight- on checking at 0545 the eta had changed to 1049z. As the forecast winds were reasonably accurate, it implies that multiple and frequent lock ups continued.

I had disabled all other add-on aircraft in my library except the Black Square Beech Starship and the Aerosoft CRJ ( my mistake leaving them enabled - I had meant to disable them too) to try this flight out in a lighter configuration in case library add ons could be causing the issues.

As the PMDG B777 has the best feeling -for me at least - of flying a big jet, this (and the Just Flight BAe 146 update too) is going to keep me flying them MSFS2020

I experienced exactly the same issue with the new PMDG MSFS2024 B737-800.
Having posted my test results, another Xbox user replied with the tip that PMDG aircraft behave much better on Xbox if installed.
I installed the B737 and found that the big freeze ups I experienced were eliminated ( there were some much briefer, momentary “slow downs” but they were not immersion breaking.

I installed the PMDG B777-200ER and flew the GE variant from KIAH - EGLL to see if same true for the B777. And it is - installing the B777 totally gets rid of the big in flight freeze ups. As for the 737 much briefer momentary slow downs do still occur but they are hardly noticeable - they may have added 5 mins on to ETA in total but given the flight duration (08.47) that’s more than acceptable.

Would be interested in hearing any explanation for why this works so well on Xbox - does installing help to reduce a CPU bottleneck?

But this is far more than a workaround for Xbox users - I’d suggest that perhaps some consideration is given to making the default for PMDG aircraft users on Xbox an installation rather than streaming

Edit - it was a beautiful approach into EGLL 27L this morning - the PMDG 777 sounds combined with MSFS2024 visuals and slight turbulence to make the experience very immersive - and its great to have one of my favourite aircraft performing so well in the sim again. It was a pleasure to fly it - just need the Navigraph update to be fixed, just another thing that SU4 beta broke and was left unaddressed in a rush to release it.
