Will Asobo update the splash effect that occurs during takeoff and landing on a rainy day?
Or should I hope an addon company makes it, like the old parallel 42?

Good question, but only Asobo can answer that.
There are lots of real live details missing in this sim, but not everything can be implemented in a short time. There may also be things that will never be implemented due to the performance drop of the sim. We have to wait what Asobo will bring us in the future.
Don’t know if i missed some thing here in the sim but i just bought the Xenviro weather engine and i noticed going north from Vancouver it was pretty windy ,i looked down and seen some pretty hefty white caps down there , i don’t recall ever seeing any but i might be wroung .
nope, with strong enough winds that’s in the base sim as well.
