try this and drop that latest driver.
delete rolling cache, reset wmr and open xr toolkit. and then at the start of a flight restart the flight before hou take
of in 2d. gives me 20fps just at the start. the game is buggy but if you no where and and what…
other findings this weekend:
Higher youre open XR resolution for better performance in VR.
Seeing all these videos with 4090 I was curious to see how my system would perform against these cards. Lots of videos gave me a lots of ideas and info on performance in general. So I decided to do some tweaking today to see if I could get the max out of my system.
and what a remarkable discovery I did today.
My system:
Intel 11700k running at 4800
DDR 3400
RTX 3080 10g
2 TB NVM SSD
HP Reverb 2
driver 522.25 ( had 522.47 but rolled back)
All the time my system was stuck with pdmg 737 between 25 and 30fps. fluent but just not that wauw effect.
so I started experimenting and found that highering the open xr resulted in an increase in framerate. what I have see. today in my Reverb is just amazing!! resolution of approx 3700/3700
at almost 35/40fps above tokyo/new york etc with the pmdg737.
I use open xr toolkit. sharpness 40
Open XR 140 in game render 100
DLSS/Performance
today I lowered some settings in sim to see the result and I have to say it still looks amazing.
I run now T lod 150 and object lod 200.
most settings high and only anti alliasing at 16x.
texture super sampling of (makes no difference in my opinion)
The result is amazing to see the Reverb at this resolution with this fps.
dont think I need to upgrade any hardware if the development of the sim is going this way.
SU10 has been an great improvement for me.
However what really surprised me is that going from open xr 120 to 140 resulted in an increase in fps. Looks like my system is boosting because of an higher demand. cant really explain whats happening but I love it.
My VR has never been so good just by tweaking.
ps I noticed that it is best to always start a flight from the home screen.
sometimes I start a flight and the fps stays lower and then another restart makes it go up to round 35/40 fps. looks like a memory bug but as you know it is solvable.
thought to share this.
Thanks for replying. There were a few things that I did not know what you were talking about so I googled them.
It seems that you are talking about using VR. I don’t have VR so VR isn’t the issue in my case.
I may have no option but to go back to 522.25 because the problem, when you find you have it - and the workaround - gets very old very quickly.
It would be annoying if the issue is nvidia driver related.
oh I am sorry man did not realize that.
but try the former driver I have seen its much better. and what I said try to restart the scene just after its loaded. gives me 20fps extra without touching the dlss button.
there is a bug
Not a problem at all. I would rather that people respond to someones problem than not.
From your reply there it sounds like you have exactly the same problem. You get low fps, you hit Esc and then chose ‘Restart’ and the fps are much better.
OK. I did indeed uninstall 526.47 using DDU and when i was distracted before I could install 522.25 and found that Windows 11 install 456.71 and the Nvidia Control panel on its own! Was this causing the issue?
Found that there was an option in DDU right at the bottom to inhibit Windows Update from installing nvidia drivers. This must have been where the 456 ones came from.
Re-used DDU again and after reboot nothing reinstalled. So went ahead with the 522 drivers.
After another reboot to ensure that everything was clean tried loading at EGWU again. Still at 17 fps! The Esc/Restart workaround was applied and I got 39 fps.
So this seems to rule out the 526 driver as a cause.
So again I tried the clean uninstall/reinstall procedure. Now I have to say here that if, like me you selected the C: drive for your initial MSFS install and have somewhere for all the files that are downloaded once you start the game - Z:\MSFS for me - then it is a 10 minute job. If not then it would be an 8 hr job for me.
All you do on initial run is select the folder where you have your ‘Official\OneStore’ folder installed. It does a quick check, sees that you have a complete install and continues to load.
So what happened after this reinstall. Went to EGWU, same aircraft, and immediately got 51 fps. Again it shows the difference that this bug creates for users.
So as I left the 522 drivers installed and got a different result it shows that either Windows 11, on my PC, is the problem OR how Windows 11 interacts with Nvidia drivers.
RobedBadge93725,
If I read your post correctly, and you too have the bug I would recommend that you try the complete uninstall/reinstall process to see if you too get a better initial fps and a better fps than even the Restart gives you.
I realise that if you just left everything on the default C: installation then you might be reluctant to do this, but I would urge you to try it ESPECIALLY if you are able to put the 200GB of files in another location. It would enable you to reinstall a lot quicker in the future.
What I do first is use DDU to clear out the current drivers. It is best run in Safe Mode to ensure the cleanest possible system. Don’t forget to tick the last option to prevent Windows Update auto loading drivers.
Load the version of drivers that you want and reboot.
Now clean out MSFS
From Advanced settings in App choose ‘Reset’.
Uninstall Flight Simulator - ensure that C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe is deleted.
Delete C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Local\FlightSimulator if still there.
Go to MS Store. Search for Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe and install.
Set install location to C: drive
On initial run set location to Z:\MSFS (in my case, but whatever location is suitable for your system)
After installation Load and Clear Rolling Cache, and reset it up.
As I said. I have followed this twice now and it has cleared the bug but it did re-occur on a new driver load. The saving grace is that having the main files in a separate location from default saves an awful lot of time.
A good tip would be to copy the ‘Official\OneStore’ folder and its contents first if you use the default location. That way when you re-install you will not have to download 200GB just point to them on your system.
It will be interesting to see what happens for you.
