But let me get this straight, what are the things you miss about other SIMs? FSX+Acceleration cost maybe more than FS2020 with 15 year old graphics and the default 737 that had the FMC only designed and had two Service Packs in its entire life.
X-Plane and P3D vs FS2020 is like a cartoon vs a movie.
For me FS2020 is beyond expectation and with all the updates it is receiving it will only get better.
The A320 FBW is already at a very good level at 0 cost.
I too have X-Plane 11 and before long I will format the SSD where it is installed to use it for FS2020 MODs.
Well for a start there is not a the helicopter and they are now delayed until 2022. For me me a flight flight sim without a helicopter is just a plane simulator.
There are no gliders and no fast jets.
Then there is a lack of study level aircraft because the SDK lacks the ability to handle advanced aircraft functionality.
Now that’s great you like the a320 but it’s a game version of the a320 and that is not being critical of your love for it but just because you love it there are a lot of us that enjoy full systems not game systems .
There are other things like multi screen problems and a lack of ATC depth but my point is that it has a lot of good things for us but it still lacks what we had in P3d V5 or x plane 11.50 .
For me well with no helicopters it’s a dead duck and you can love your a320 but it’s of zero interest to me .
I just love the comparisons. Version 5 and Version 11 versus Version 1. LOL
Pretty sure we will look back from MSFS Version 11 and wonder what we were thinking trying to fly those other titles.
Yes I am sure we will look back so long as MS don’t kill the title again like they did in 2009 with FSX.
However at the moment MSFS is not a total replacement for XPlane or P3d unless you like game style aircraft .
Just remember MSFS is claimed to be the successor of the 30 year old FS and it’s gone forward in graphics and not much else . Graphics are not everything unless you are a gamer chasing eye candy.
You knew it did not have helis, why did you buy it instead of waiting and keep playing with the other sims you have?
Because they said helicopters were a priority after launch and I thought I would have a play so I could get it running and sorted but then Asobo say it’s now going to be 2022. 2022 in my view is not showing a priority of development in any way , what Asobo said was misleading .
Never the less this huge delay tells me there are serious problems with the physics flight model for anything other than GA .
Don’t know but there’s people claiming the FBW mod flies quite realistically.
I would not know I only fly small GA and find the sim great (but far from perfect)
If you look at x-plane stats, helis and gliders make up for about 5% of the total user base. That is to give perspective on priorities.
What you talking about, Willis?
We live in a world of entitlement and demand instant gratification. Most people today find it impossible to comprehend explosion of technology in just the last few decades.
Hey, Bats, I look at it this way. Go back in time 1 year and evaluate the state of your flight-sim-ness. Soak in the euphoria of your perfect world of FSX, P3D, and X-Plane 11.5 with Vulcan. Glorify your awesome scenery and primitive textures. Rejoice in your ability to fly anywhere in the world – anywhere you’ve spent a lot of money buying scenery and airports, that is. Enjoy flying the copious amount of helicopters, gliders, study-level aircraft, and somewhat realistic flight models.
Okay, I have to give you that last one, but it illustrates my point.
If you were so happy with that flight sim world, why buy this sim? If MS would refund your money on the condition that you will be put on a black list, and never again able to buy the sim, and will be banned from this forum – would you do it?
If your answer is no, then realize what you have. You can go fly those other sims any time you want. And you only have to fly this sim when what it offers at the current moment is more interesting or more fun than the other sims and aircraft you have.
I know you’re frustrated – all us hard core simmers and pilots looking for realistic planes in their hobby are just as frustrated as you. I have all those other sims, too, including DCS where I love flying the Huey and getting shot at as I attempt a rescue in a hot landing zone, or blowing stuff up during ground support missions.
So at the times when I feel the need for speed, or want to have to avoid Ring Vortex State during a Huey landing, or want the realistic airliner experience of the Zibo 737 – I can do that. But when I want to fly VFR in a GA aircraft or shoot ILS approaches where I realistically break out at minimums – I jump into THIS sim, whatever the current state of it is.
It would be nice not to have the terrain spikes, but I think that will get fixed very, very shortly. And I think we hard-core simmers will soon be getting more and more attention as MS/A reach their VFR, scenery, VR, Xbox, financial milestones.
Happy flying in both worlds,
B
There are no balloons, dirigibles, or blimps. In a earlier flight simulator there were blimps flying over stadiums with sporting events just like IRL. Those blimps couldn’t be flown, though.
The ability to have custom designed balloons or balloon liveries would be awesome. Seeing multiple balloons launching at the same time would be incredible with MSFS graphics. And trying to maneuver a blimp or dirigible into the massive hanger at Moffitt Field would be very challenging.
Since all of these lighter-than-air aircraft require a pilot’s license, they should be considered for inclusion along with helicopters and gliders.
Very well thought out and written. Fair enough!
Yes that makes sense go back a year in time, what the heck are you banging on about you make as much sense as a one winged Cessna.
I love it when people just make stuff up and use that as the basis of their argument. 5% is probably because they are all flying in DCS. If helicopters were such a bad investment why are they such a huge part of DCS?
The reality IMHO is the developer Asobo missed the mark becuase they were not true aviation fans they are just people that market what they think will sell and they missed a whole niche market in VR and helicopters and gliders and now they are back pedaling but the physics and SDK are just not up to scratch for advanced flight physics. That is why helicopters are coming in 2022 as they appear to have no idea. The only 5% I accept is that they have 5% of the knowledge needed to develop rotary wings.
They have shoehorned into DX11 a pretty good VR but now they know they need DX12 to make it sing.
Given that heli flyers are still not buying into MSFS in big numbers they don’t get very well represented in many of the topics discussed here but according to the latest list of wants, helicopters are still number 7, so your stats are just wrong or made up.
Until they fix cities looking like mud huts from close up, Helicopters be are a bad idea.
Not a selling point to tour ugly scenary.
I’ll ignore your tone but go check “my stats” yourself http://dashboard.x-plane.com/
Payware A320 for $100 shouldn’t have a starter button nor avionics switch. Neither does the version we have in the sim today because it isn’t supposed to. MSFS is a great platform for GA flying as it sits right now. Airliners and other aircraft will take time. But let’s be honest. I’d feel pretty bad as a developer, knowing that you’ve created a PLATFORM that is light-years ahead of the other simulators and yet we still have..grumbling.
Kitty, when was the last time you deleted your rolling cache? A number of users, including myself have eliminated the melted buildings by flushing them.
And why not, that’s entirely your prerogative to enjoy in whatever way you see fit.
If only the sim was “as close to real as possible”.
Somehow, I have my doubts they’ll ever be able to turn an Xbox game into a sim.
Shame, an opportunity missed - big time.
Well I have been playing for some 80 hours and it’s getting better . I even managed to connect with FSHostCLient 1.5b5 to P3D other players and I was able to see the other players and they can see me and after a while the difference in the scenery and altitude came down so we were all on the same level. I simply point FSHost to the folder where the aircraft are located and then simply change the other players aircraft to mine . My scenery in MFS2020 far out does P3D with all their addon scenery . Granted there are still some errors in the scenery especially in North America where you see mountain pyramids and really strange things that disappear once you get close to them. Its been a love hate this sim for a few months but it’s getting better and I do like the fact I can see real world aircraft flying into the same airports I am . I ckecked on FlightRadar24 and yep that is an air canada flight on final ..
I’ve used several different sims ever since they became available over the last 30 years. Your comment is exactly correct and all arguments devolve to Ford vs. Chevy.
What Chevy aircraft are you flying…? ![]()
I’ll trade in my Boeing F150.
