What a flop:

Issue between keyboard and chair, I’m guessing :kissing_smiling_eyes:

So you insinuate user error yet offer no suggestions. I doubt that with the number of experienced users and the number of so many failures that this is all user error. Flight controllers that are not mapped seems to be the biggest problem.

I don’t get why people are expressing disappointment. At first I expected that all my keys/buttons would be mapped just as in FSX, but that was not the case, yes, it was a bit disappointing.
We have to understand that this is a new developer, so things will be different. All it takes is a little bit of time investment to get to know the Sim and to map your functions correctly. I’ve done that the past 2 days, and it’s becoming more and more enjoyable to fly.

Exactly. I’m using a 15 year old joystick that I spent a while mapping

Then spent some time setting dead space and sensitivity

Now it’s superb and hugely playable

Flight controllers that are not mapped is definitely not a problem.

If taking 10-15 minutes to set up controls is too much, this might not be the game for you.

Was a controller setting in steam that was causing my issue.

Absolutely disagree. Most of the issues I’ve seen on these forums that are controller related are due to people assigning their device axis to button bindings in the sim…user error!!!

100% agree. While yes, the controls could be separated into a different “Axes” category, it shouldn’t take too long to realize what’s happening and resolve it on your own.

A number of other issues people are facing likely come down to user error as well.

What equipment are you trying to configure? What exactly are you seeing? Without details this is a useless rant. This forum needs a downvote button.

Yes, mapping controls to your liking takes time. This is normal for a flight simulator. If that is a problem this is probably not for you. I enjoy the process. Spent probably the first five hours mapping my joystick, yoke, pedals, throttle, panels and keyboard to my liking. This is just part of using a flight simulator.

Can you share how you did it? I have CH Flight Sim Yoke, Logictech throttle quadrant and Thrustmaster rudder pedals. Can’t figure it out. FS2020 made my mouse and keyboard the default.

There are a lot of people in the forum that are willing to assist you through this issue. Give us some specific details of what you have, what you have tried and and results and we can better provide constructive feedback.

I believe this is the best explanation.

Please define “hi-end game pc.” Someone was complaining on a discord server about that and they claimed to have a super high end pc but turned out they had a 1650… Not refuting any points, just trynna ask what your specs are.

Ohhh lord, until 2030 hahahah

Wait people are actually mad that they have to map their buttons? Have these idiots ever played a flight sim in their life?

To be fair it isn’t the most intuitive system I’ve ever seen and I would have insisted that it be changed or at least a youtube video be created on how to do set them up. But yeah, it took me less than 5 minutes to work out what the hell I was doing but not all of us are as experienced or have the same technical knowledge. Neither of those should be required to setup a joystick.

There are a few fairly common issues.

  1. Mapping a stick axis to a non-axis setting. EG: Mapping your elevator to Pitch Up and Pitch Down won’t work. You need to map it to Pitch Axis. (may not be exact names)
  2. Select the controller you are trying to map from the top bar that lists your devices. It will allow scrolling if you have lots of devices.
  3. If there is a binding already on a setting you want to change. Delete that binding first. It won’t just overwrite.
  4. Press Validate to set the binding. What an awful name and completely unlike what it is called in any other game I’ve seen.
  5. When you go into the screen it only shows the current assignments. To see all available settings you have to select All from a drop down on the left side of the screen.

That’s all I can think of right now, I’m not near my computer to check names to be more precise.

The system works. But it looks like it was developed by a programmer with limited UI development experience. Or maybe it is a limitation because this will all go to XBox one day so it has to be usable from a hand controller. Either way, it is pretty unintuative for a PC game.

Check your tools before you blame the sim.

Sounds like a you problem.

Just remember that when assigning your analog axis make sure it’s to an axis, not a button press!

most issues are NOT user error lol… having the download freeze isnt user error.. having the game crash.. isnt user error.. incredibly slow load times isnt user error.. having locations you fly over or fly to look totally different and changing buildings to be different things so it doesnt even look like the location… isnt user error..
step down from your high horse pal..
