What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 1)

Today I had a pretty eventfull landing at LAX.

I’ve done a commercial flight for Delta in the A32NX from Portland to LA. Most of the flight was pretty uneventfull, but at KLAX there was a lot traffic and some AI traffic that simply refused to vacate the runway. Just when I was about to touch down (I think about 200 feet before the runway) an AI pilot thought “Let’s line up” causing the ATC to order a Go Around. Normally, I ignore AI tomfoolery. But I felt like I was coming in hot anyway, so I complied with the Go Around order.

During the go around, the autopilot went haywire and kept routing me back to Portland. Luckily, I’m more used to working with the MCDU by now, so I quickly replanned my approach while ATC kept giving the weirdest commands. One of them was to climb to FL250. During a go around 🤦.

Anyway during the second final approach, I got another go around order because of an AI pilot not vacating the runway. But this time I ignored it and performed my smoothest landing yet. The ‘A Pilot’s Life’ add-on (or plug-in?) Reported a touchdown speed of <50fpm.

It was a pretty good day in the end. If I find the time to fly tomorrow it’s from KLAX to KDEN.

Nice landing, as a passenger I think I would have needed a few “stiff” drinks coming out of those clouds.

I play on PC and use an hdmi cable and play it on my bigscreen tv

I’d love to run it on my 4K tv… But my pc is already struggling at 1080p… Best not push it much harder

Thanks! I was practically sh*tting myself on this flight. When I saw that rabbit just before minimums I was like thank you thank you thank you! Definitely took a shot of Johnny Walker Blue once we parked. Lol.

I flew EBBR to EKCH. It was “Vectors to Copenhagen” event on VATSIM, and as usual, very busy Danish skies, with extremely competent ATC. But for once, the skies where not only busy on the entire stretch, from Belgium through Netherlands and Germany, but also covered by ATC. Not a single time I had to switch to Unicom ! This felt so Realistic !!! what a great eveing I’ve had.

P.S. I must say, those ATC guyes on VATSIM, in Denmark, they sure can handle rush hour traffic. It’s amazing, how they change your flt plan just before reaching the STAR, to make shortcuts and vector you arround DK through the packed air traffic…And from top to bottom airspace, they remain calm, polite, and courteous ! If any of you guyes read this, CUDDO for you all !

i don’t mind it, the only thing that bothers me, is that the ground vehicles follows taxiways, and not “roads” painted on the tarmac. I don’t know if Asobo will ever change that, since this problem exist since ground vehicles are animated in MSFS ( no matter which edition)…but they clearly stated they are not focusing on airliner (environment) yet. Let’s be patient and see what they have in petto

Did a hop in the CJ4. With the WT mod this is easily one of the best planes to fly in the game!

Continuing my Tour of Germany, I departed Wasserkuppe Airport (EDER) heading east into the northern part of the state of Bavaria. The first stop-over was Kulmbach Airport (EDQK):

Northern Bavaria

From Kulmbach I flew across the Fichtel Mountains, a mountain range in northern Bavaria, and landed on its southern side at the airport Rosenthal-Plössen (EDQP):

Looking south from the Fichtel Mountains

Parked at EDQP

After that I departed again to fly south. I overflew Weiden in der Oberpfalz and started tracking the Autobahn 93 down towards Regensburg and spotted the Walhalla Hall of Fame Monument east of the city overlooking the Danube River:

Headed south towards Regensburg

The Walhalle Monument

From Regensburg I followed the Danube River southeast landing at Straubing Airport (EDMS) and ending the trip in Vilshofen (EDMV) right next to the river bank. The slowly rising Alps in the distance approaching Germany’s south border is always a nice view:

End of this trip.

To continue I will fly into Austria before heading west to follow the Rhine River north again through western Germany…

Made my first MSFS vid. Flew from Bolzano to Locher Sarentino Airfield in the TBM

I did a flying tour of Paris in the L-19 Bird Dog, complete with French livery. I also flew under the Eiffel Tour and just clear of the Place du Trocadéro. I then passed through the Parvis de la Défense building before landing at the grass airfield of St Cyr.

I did the flight after seeing someone on YouTube get to fly in the jumper seat on the flight deck of Greenland Air’s Dash 8, so I thought I’d give it a try in the Cessna 208 B. Wish I had the Dash 8 on the Xbox though.

I had a suspicion ATC just assigns you the runway now that you have planned in, no matter what the (live weather) conditions or traffic. I’ve had narrow misses with cross traffic (crossing runways) before and now ATC killed me and all my passengers.

We ended up colliding (going through each other that is) on the middle of the runway, both landing at the same time. AI traffic still doesn’t have landing lights either…

I wonder if problems with the flight plan cause the issues where ATC is far too late with descent instructions. ATC was late again this time so I requested a lower altitude in steps to stay on track. However then the distance countdown on the MCDU jumped from 66 to 11… Can’t trust anything! A slow loop before landing clearance solved it (apart from crashing into live traffic)

Sometimes the route on the MCDU is very different from the one AP follows and shows on the VFR map like here

And with 32nm to go, ATC finally lets go off FL360

But maybe ATC has the extended route in mind, not the direct one the plane follows.

Anyway, is there a way to get back to getting a ‘correct’ approach?

Problem with not setting an approach beforehand is that assignment comes far too late and often results in the plane turning around and flying back a long way after setting the approach.
Before SU6, setting an approach would at least get ATC to tell you to descent in time and then ATC would assign you the ‘correct’ approach and you can switch, but still risking the turn around.

I guess it’s best guess, based on current weather conditions, or zoom in to spot a live traffic plane and check which runway they’re using.

And that’s why most of us who’ve been at it for more than a few weeks have just given up on using the in-sim ATC.

i saw the same vid…from the guy from FLIGHTRADAR24… he also made one from his flight on A330 between Greenland and Denmark. I do it often in the sim…either with the A320 neo (fictionnal)

, or the A330 PMP from Air Greenland. There is also A330 Neo (fictionnal of course) of Air Greenland, with full working cockpit from FBW.

this Beechcraft, is the “closest” to the Dash8 though, if you want to try it

I love flying in the 350i for sure, sadly us Xbox players a very limited in liveries for a lot of the planes :frowning:

sorry about that
