Arrived into a busy EGLL…
Third leg of Iberia bush trip completed. Actually the bush trip part is very easy, but the airfields en route are so short it feels more like a landing challenge…
Ironically, the IRL flight was also not without issues, as I was unable to hear the FIS over the radio - for some reason I am still trying to understand. Flying wise it was fine though, more thermals than in the sim though
Just messing with a dark star today I did Cherry point NC to That navy military base in San Diego just to test it I’m taking it around the world after my Junkers JU52 tour
Has anyone ever heard of the Savage Islands?
They are actually a set of very small uninhabited islands around halfway between Tenerife and Madeira. Total land area of around 1 square mile, with a stable 20c climate but no savages or many trees for that matter. Lack of orographically induced rainfall is responsible with sea bream, mackerel and sardines being the only likely food source.
Discovered them today flying from Tenerife South TFS to Madeira FNC (GCTS-LPMA).
Flight on Xbox Series S was fine, with no CTD or blackcreen. To help ensure this photogrammetry was turned off - a major factor during daytime flights. Rolling cache set to 16GB.
The RNAV approach into Madeira Runway23 wasn’t followed by the autopilot so flew the magenta vertical deviation bar manually.
Formation of 2x Darkstar to max altitude - Mach 10, 275.000 ft across South America, with successful landing at SCFA.
The clouds look really good from that altitude, really good.
First long haul using the new HJet - reposition flight from White Plains NY to Hilton Head SC. Nice ride, still figuring out the power management settings, but it’s neat to see a jet with a working Vertical Situation Display among other things.
Finished a flight I started several days ago. Seems something about the way I was using the Hype H-145 would not work with the 145 AP and a free mod from flightsim.to. Turns out I had an older version. and whatever I was doing to update it would not even let the sim get past the Maverick page before a CTD. I don’t recall Hype sending an email, but I did get one yesterday. I loaded the versions it linked to and an updated of the free mod - voile! All working well. Heck, for some reason even the sim started when I clicked on the icon - which it had not done since that junior update after the last big update. Whew!
Italy looks greats. I did a Venice flyover after the WU9 and was pleasantly surprised. I did get a payware LIPZ and it accented things - sadly, they did not include active helipads, but the markings and structures are all there. Venice station even has the platform covers!
After that, off to Dolomites - a composite of a few days ago and the redo today. Performed the rescue and flew down to Verona’s Ospedale Borgo Trento, Pronto Soccorso e Trauma Center
The rescue mod worked perfectly, I just had to idle the engines. I’m sure another update will have him walking from the cabin to the rear and then back again.
Amazing what HYPE have been doing with this aircraft.
Beautiful day in Scotland, so I could do SkyPark contract for some cargo from EGBM (Tatenhill) to EGES (Senday) with stop at EGIF (Latch Farm). I started early morning and it was quite some morning fog around Manchester, so it was a bit tricky to fly VFR. But I was lucky, I could find gap in clouds and also able to to avoid class D airspaces. And the morning for views were spectacular.
And it was clear sky north of Manchester.
With some clouds coming from east from North sea.
Unfortunately, weather in Edinburg was not really VFR. There was overcast about 1000 AGL. I had to fly around hills south of Edinburg. Funnily enough, when I was close to EGIF, MSFS downloaded updated weather and overcast suddenly changed to scattered clouds. But it was still a bit hard to identify runway of EGIF as it was only a small grass strip next to farmers fields. And of course I landed next to runway. I turned and announced “clear of runway”, I switched to drone camera and found out that I was actually still on the runway. Then I unloaded part of cargo and had some breakfast (lunch IRL). As there was no fuel available at EGIF, I had to move to another airport EGZZ (Kinross). Also weather got a bit better for VFR after breakfast.
I had longer break at EGZZ. But then flight was easy. It was beautiful sunny day in northers Scotland, ideal for VFR.
And after landing I finished my 700 flight hours in MSFS.
Took the Tomcat up for a spin. Superb flight model, that. And Jester just wouldn’t stop yappin’. Something about ‘bogie’ and ‘bandit’… and the time - he kept on changing the time on me!
Oh wait. That was DCS. My bad…
Just did a fun real world route from RPLL-RPVI (Manila-Iloilo, Philippines) in a Cebu Pacific A320neo. A flawless on time arrival.
Welcome to Iloilo friends
