Proceeded to follow the Zambezi river with the C208. This leg from Kariba to Luangwa, following the river as it connects Kariba Lake with Cahora Bassa. Two very large artificial lakes.
Anyway, the flight itself was super boring, I slept a little bit during.
I still don’t know how to properly get the generator to work in the C208.
The airstrip I landed at, Luangwa Airport, is listed as ZM-0003 in Windy. It was somewhat tricky to spot. My approach was unorthodox but I really was ready for the leg to be over.
Just checked out Kamchatka (part of it, anyway). I didn’t have high expectations of the scenery, but there are some nice bits. Sorry, I forgot to take screenshots.
Now I want to cockpit country.
Is this even better than this giant airplane cemetary in the desert, sorry I don´t know where this is I think it´s Nevada or Arizona?
I think the world update really shows all the love the area got, at least compared to my African tour which is as vanilla a continent sadly as it gets. I hope it will have such great looks soon.
Arriving to Lisbon was quite an experience too, there was this orange coloured airliner that I followed on my way to land, sadly when I switched active pause to make a shot, it flew on, oblivious to my time stopping magic, so it ended up quite less spectacular on the shot.
I don’t think I can make it to Oshkosh this year. I’ve attended more than 25 Airventures, but haven’t been back in over a decade. Looking to fly in one of these upcoming years! So a virtual visit instead, but it’s just not the same without the constant background drone of the Bell 47’s and loudspeaker announcers, and that relentless July sun.
I flew the Stearman out of Pioneer Airport (WS17 is a grass strip just west of the KOSH tower) and then practiced some short, soft field landings at the ultralight strip. I’m definitely not winning the STOL competition!
It’s been half a decade for me. Really considering going up for the day this weekend, but if not at least it’s fun watching the webcams and airshow broadcast.
