What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2)

Attempted the RNP 05-Y into NZQN in the A32NX. Butchered it, went around, visually maneuvered for a second successful go :grimacing:

As a meta-generator for flight plans, I sometimes take inspiration from the current picture displayed as my Windows background (which uses Bing Images 'natch). Today showed a great view of the Italian town of Verruchio, which is just inland of the Adriatic Coast. What I didn’t know was it was just northwest of San Marino, an independent republic landlocked inside Italy. TIL! :sunglasses: The nearest airport appeared to be Frederico Fellini (named after the famous Director) LIPR. And for yuks and gigles I chose to not use the GPS, instead, leveraging my lessons for cross-country techniques partly learned in the sim, circling around to pass over the airport mid-field so I could take my first heading correctly to the republic.

After overflying the three castles, the flight plan continued South - it was a bumpy ride over the hilly region - I turned East over Lake Trasimeno as a VFR POI and landed at San Egidio. It’s little trips like this that remind you how well the sim does at recreating the world.

Just completed my 1st leg of the day, a short 30 minute hop from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Ottawa (YOW) in the Boeing 787-8 (Kuro v2).

This is more of a reposotioning flight as it takes a YYZ based B788 to YOW for the subsequent Ottawa - London Heathrow flight later that evening.

The jet handled great as always, though I did come in a bit high on my decent into YOW, but nothing a little bit of speedbrakes can’t handle. The landing at YOW was “firm”, but still not bad for the 787. I’m still used to flying the smaller birds like the CRJ or A320.

Anyhow, I landed on-time and began to deboard and prepare for my 6hr hop across the pond to Heathrow.

Took the Vision jet out for the first time since the update a bit ago. Working great!

“The light jet looks after its young kitplane, which resembles its parent in shape but is not yet grown to full size.”

Second complete A320 flight. Kansai to Naha. Remembered more. Still techniques to master. Been spoiled in the H145. Gambaruzooo!

Would be so nice if Technobrain would make their Naha scenery for MSFS 2020

Right after this, aware that AI has not been appearing in significant numbers, I looked up what I heard about using FSLTL with JFFStraffic. Next flight will tell. Cheers!

So I wrapped up the second leg of the 787-8 flight last night, with a 6hr hop across the Atlantic from Ottawa (YOW) to London Heathrow (LHR).

Having arrived from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) on a repositioning flight, I loaded up at Gate 15 at YOW late that evening and took off from RWY 25.

Settled in at FL390, and watched the sunset as I cruised towards Newfoundland and the Atlantic Ocean.

Sunrise over Ireland at FL410! The crossing was relatively quick and there was quite a bit of traffic joining me as the morning rush from N. America to Europe was in full swing.

Started my decent into Heathrow shortly after crossing into British aerospace. It wouldn’t be much longer until I had wheels on the ground.

Welcome to London! Arrived some 20min ahead of schedule. The Kuro v2 performed great except until capturing the ILS Approach into RWY 27L. I had to hand-fly the approach, but aside from that everything went well!

What happened in KLAS? :zipper_mouth_face:

Nice tail wind, clocked a peak 507kt ground speed.

A little hazy coming into Denver. Had to hand fly again which is great for the practice. Ballooned a little bit. :frowning: Need to check my flight instructor at YouTube to figure out how to get the AP to capture the ILS.

Can someone run and get me some of the good stuff? :coffee:

Rans S6S Coyote from Paine (KPAE) to Arlington (KAWO) with live weather. Snohomish County in WA has nice photogrammetry that extends for quite a while, which makes it even nicer for general practice and situational awareness.

This is supposed to be VFR, except for the ceiling is below the 3000’ minimum. Visibility got sketchy around 2200’ so I descended a bit and it got better. So there’s that.

Back to KPAE. I think this is what they call scud running. This day would have been a no-go in IRL. But in FS you can do anything so I went!

Since the weather cleared up so nicely, took the JPL C152 for a little hop from Paine (KPAE) to Friday Harbor (KFHR) and then back to KPAE.

Otto came along to help me practice, and had all kinds of advice about paying attention or something like that.

A little haze but otherwise very nice and clear.

Approaching Friday Harbor, and enjoying a perfect trim-out.

Made it back to my FBO at KPAE in one piece!
