What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2)

Early morning flight from Grand Bahama Intl.

Shots above are with the latest Active Sky. This is what it looks like with native Live weather.

ASFS. Don’t leave home without it.

2024 + ASFS is the closest I have seen to what the sim was like with 2020 pre-SU7.

2020, Honolulu to Wake Island. Long, but well controlled by Say Intentions. Strong crosswinds on the approach.

Did a flight with the Fenix 320 in 2024. Hong Kong to Sanya.

A bit of invasive surgery.

Tried out the Dornier Do J today. After realizing that the Cabina version was bugged, I tried the other two and they worked perfectly fine. Had a relaxed flight along Shatt al-Arab in Iraq, taking off and landing on the river without the need for a runway.

This might be my favourite improvement in MSFS 2024 - you can just take off from anywhere you want!

Winnipeg, Manitoba to Thunder Bay, Ontario

Originally was going to be Toronto, but I thought I would change it up and go to an airport I haven’t been to.

Although an interesting bit of info, I knew I had a bit of a flight to do, so I thought I would go relax and watch Sully. Well, having just shy of 50 min left of the movie I started to get a restless leg (■■■■ RLS) so I decided to get up and walk around, and I would check on my flight. Turns out, the next airport I saw was Thunder Bay. I kind of found that interesting, but at the speed I was going I did what I could in order to land on the runway.

It turns out I ended up pulling my own sully and landing in Lake Superior.

Once you land in a body of water you can still get out of your plane and walk around, imagine it being similar to someone else who could walk on water. They wrote a book about him.

*** Side Note #1 ***
Last night I wrote the fine folks on this site and asked them about AutoPilot AI, as I figured when the MSFS 2020 got released originally that function didn’t work at first either, I didn’t know that as I play on Xbox and the release date got bumped back. Although they did tell me it’s on the list of things they want to add. If it was added I don’t think I would have had to have the wet landing that I did.

Tried out some addon planes. My beloved Norseman mostly works. Like the good old workhorse that she is.

Early morning at Woodland airport (W27). Mount Hood can be seen in the distance:

We head east and start a long climb towards the summit:

The goal today is to see just how high on the mountain I can land the Draco X:

Hmm. Looks too steep on this side:

This side looks a bit better… I think?

OK, not at the summit, but pretty close! The Draco comes equipped with a very effective parking brake:

Which is just as well, considering the slope I’m on!:

OK, time to continue east:

Approaching the small airstrip at Valley View:

Parking at Valley View (5S9). My plane is bigger than yours!

…and a quick trip to NYC:
Seeing the sights in Washington Square:

The batteries in the Volocopter ran out, & with no way to charge them here, switched to the Jetson 1:

Central park. Not sure why there is a pilot in MY aircraft !!:

 They are indeed very annoying. What love to know which shortcut removes them.

I tried 4 flights of which 2 were successful.

The Pipstrel Virus refused to move from its parking spot so I had to abandon that flight.

So I took the Vision Jet from YPPF Parafield Adelaide to YKSC Kingscote Kangaroo Island.

Tower wasn’t letting any AI planes take off so I had to drive through them all.

YKSC is one of my very top favourite freewares in FS20 and here it appears to be working perfectly in FS24.

Then I tried to fly the A319 IAE from NZQN Queenstown to YPAD Adelaide. It was supposed to be Qantas Link but somehow the sim lost the livery I’d selected twice.

Sadly we didn’t make it to Australia as FS24 opted for a CTD over the Tasman Sea.

Finally, after another CTD while trying to select a helicopter in free flight, I flew an R66 along the Grand Canyon.

This was nothing short of spectacular. There’s a lot of scenery that doesn’t look a whole lot improved in FS24, at least from a few thousand feet away, but this is real next level stuff. It’s not hard to see why they took the content creators to the Grand Canyon to show off FS24. Maybe one day more of the rest of the world will look like this.

Grand Canyon looks incredible indeed. It’s a joy to fly through it.

Now I’m gonna have to check out that area out by Tioga county PA because somewhere over there (I don’t remember the town exactly) was the Grand Canyon of the east
