This morning I flew from Detroit to Chicago. I accidentally sneezed on my flight stick and caused a nose dive. Those 2024 sensitivities are something else.
I’m out for a short flight from KSEA to CYQQ in the FBW 380, winds are 300 at 8kts at fl200. I’m on final, and I find I’m start to crab. Then I notice I’ve got this mad gusting crosswind of 25kts! I’m watching it fluctuate and correcting right over the threshold. l put the wheels down hard that time.

Found the issue; I must have edited the default wind layer.
Territory #9. Long flight south east from the Azores to Madeira. The Madeira ‘islands’ are dominated by Madeira itself and the smaller Porto Santo.
The other islands, the Desertas and Savage Islands are left to birds, small wildlife and a few wildlife rangers. 3 hours flight time to explore the archipelago.
Airfields used were: LPMA Madeira and LPPS Porto Santo.
A fascinating dichotomy. Two major islands devoted to tourism. Several tiny islands for the birds.
That’s as far south as we go before heading back north. More southerly island groups can be visited when visiting the African west coast. Next stop, Gibraltar.
Orlando to Tallahassee

Way too much time watching this every time I load the game (not simulator).
Tested the Kuro 787 after the first wings event from MSLP-MROC, MROC-MMUN, and finally MMUN- KMIA
Finally got back around to “testing” the “repaired” Saitek X52 controller again with another flight out of Ostyafyavo just south of Moscow Russia.
Nothing really to be said about the airport - a Direzweki Designs it isn’t - but it’s there and close enough to landmarks that I recognize that VFR flying is possible.
Goal:
- Get off the ground in one piece.
- Fly a pattern.
- Land on the same runway, (i.e. Facing the same direction), as when I started and not need emergency equipment when I’m done.
- Have enough of the aircraft left, especially the wheels, (!!), that I can taxi and park.
Score:
[Censored!]
Details:
I took off, tried to fly a pattern, ended up too close, too high and too fast to think of anything other than an arrested carrier landing - and the Diamond DV-20 doesn’t come with a tail hook! So back around I went.
After about three of these, I said “Punt this!!!” (More like "There’s no blasted head in this aircraft and that energy drink I took aboard before flying wants to deplane RIGHT NOW! " - and the nearest toilet is 2000’ below me!)
Since pulling over at the next rest-stop ISN’T an option while flying - solo! - I decided to land facing whatever way I was headed.
Got on the ground in once piece with the plane intact. Hot and high, but I did it. Taxied to the GA parking, parked and shut-down and then I discovered that I couldn’t open the blasted canopy!! - with the gent’s head 100’ away, mocking me.
I don’t think that aircraft rental company likes me anymore and I’m going to have to remember to bring upholstery shampoo-in-a-can next time.
Tallahassee to Denver (with a slight detour through Nebraska)
Great shots - videos Guys but one thing stands out like a sore thumb is how blurry the distant textures are - its so obvious
Another things is a many of the screenshots look washed out and not defined images - lets hope they can address this to make superb
West Yellowstone to Alliance Municipal Airport in the Saab 340B
A bit of a backstory for my last flight: Tallahassee to Denver
I launched from Tallahassee and the flight path looked straight enough, it was angled, but I figured once I got set on the path I would end up in decent distance. Life kind of happened so I had to go do a few things, didn’t think much about it when I came back I couldn’t see my blue flight path when I paused the game. I did the free camera did a circle around my plane and nothing, so I grabbed my tablet and I came here and on the main page I used the flight planner I knew the airport I took off from, I knew the airport that I’m going to I then looked up an airport that I was close to, and I found out where I was, so I added that to the flight planner as an “Add” and it showed me the original flight path and roughly where I was. So I was able to turn my plane and find the flight path again and get myself back going where I should be heading.
Territory #10. Arrived at Gibraltar for a short stop before heading north. An interesting location, a little patch of Britain clinging to southern Spain.
One airfield used: LXGB Gibraltar.
The airport itself is fascinating, sitting where it does (there’s nowhere else for it to go) in the narrow bridge of land between the Gibraltar rock and the Spanish mainland. I’ve not seen significant runways with pedestrian/road crossings (though I understand a tunnel has recently been added).
Next stop, Spain.
Love the 'bou. It is a beast at short field operations, if you haven’t tried any short fields I would encourage you to put it to the test. I believe it can takeoff in less than 1200 feet if I remember right.
Not tried short take off … yet. But its ‘Stuka’ like descent/ dive and short landind are something else!
And a nifty bit of speed at 150.
It is pretty capable in that department as well. Not sure if you have utilized it yet or not but there is a nice “approach speed” gauge at the top of the panel. If you’re on speed the needle will indicate that you are at the right speed (it doesn’t have numbers but rather just “fast” and “slow”). If you use that and all the flaps you can land on some really short strips. It is so much fun to put such a large aircraft into a small dirt strip.
