I flew around Penang island today in the Cessna 152.
FG ?. I fly often out of KEDW and once in awhile low over Honshu to bring back memories.
FG, sorry, FlyingGunny. Sure wish someone would get on the ball with doing KEDW up right. Cheers
That’s OK, it just didn’t register. Don’t know what EDW looks like nowadays. I just remember it as pretty barren.
Finally made it into Ontario on my fourth attempt with a 500 nm balloon flight from Lake Winnipeg to Manitouwadge.
I was going to do a low, slow drift into downtown Winnipeg, but the winds shifted from northwest to west so I fired up to the jetstream to cover some ground instead, hitting a top ground speed of 158 knots. I think AirForceProud95 would be proud.
I actually managed to land at the Manitouwadge Airport. Unfortunately the airport is missing in the sim and there’s just a clearing with an airport radio tower instead.
Started my Canada crossing from St Johns Newfoundland with a first landing at St Pierre (et Miquelon, France territory). Heading to Nova Scotia on the next leg.
second flight after watching some vids and things happened so much better than before, except for that landing… at least made it on the runway, but forgot that power bit. Left Coningsby, buzzed a few places from east to west and finished at Valley AB. Cheers!
Topped my previous gliding record by far. I had a blast flying it, but to be honest it felt far easier than IRL, though I’ve never flown a Discus, only in a different glider, but 1 hour 40 minutes and 3000m altitude gained? Felt like a child’s play, I guess these soaring weather presets are just very favourable…
2nd leg of my cross-Canada adventure. From St Pierre and Miquelon to Sydney Nova Scotia. 95% water scenery. Next stop: Halifax.
I really wanted to get the Kodiak 100 when I got home but 45$ CAD seems helluva lot for a single plane. Settled for the C208. maybe I’ll get lucky and the Kodiak will be on sale for Black Friday.
Made an emergency landing in KPHH as the C172 ran out of fuel on the way to 5J9 from KTPA.
Culprit was the 30+kts head wind as a result of TS Nicole.
Drifted from Ontario into Quebec, taking advantage of the nearly full moon to stay aloft after sundown and get some long exposure shots.
I ran the tanks completely dry coming in for landing, the last bit of gas giving out as I was trying to hop a stand of trees. I plowed into the tops with the basket, but moving only 3 knots, the balloon rolled off of them and settled in a large clearing without triggering a crash.
