Saturday flight: EasyJet A320 from Rome (LIRF) to Athen (LGAV)
Alaska bush flying in the Blackbird PC6. Took off from Carl’s Landing (AK19), flew to the top of Bald Mountain(2AK7) to deliver a giant light bulb that had recently burned out. Then down to Snowflake Lake(AK64) where we set up camp. Just as we had finished and started cooking, I heard something walking through the brush, and this guy comes sauntering right by our tent! We ended up sleeping in the plane!

I lived in Bella Coola when I was a kid. It was so far away from everywhere back then it amazes me that it’s such a popular place to visit in MSFS.
I used to hang out at the airport (snuck outta school from time to time, lol) to see if I could snag a ride. I landed a ride with one of the heli pilots one time, but that’s a story for another day

That’s a beautiful story, Dean. I’m glad I evoked childhood memories for you. I’ll soon post a video of the area for you.
Where did you relocate?

Passed a live traffic airliner coming in towards John Wayne (KSNA) on my climb out heading towards Big Bear in a Cessna 152…
I have MSFS hooked up to ForeFlight and I got the auditory “traffic!” alert from my tablet; looked out the window and confirmed it was heading the other way, though a little close for my comfort.

Today I flew the last 4 glider training lessons. I had already flied step 4, but forgot to reactivate Steam VR capture after a Steam VR crash. Today a did it again to record and later publish on my YouTube channel (FlightSim World Tour, shortcut “fswt”).
This Monday I’ll publish a short video of step 5 landing at 1200 GMT. An external view video to appreciate the beauty of slipping.
Flying glider training 4th lesson again – I got a 10,000 points score at the first try, but a little less this time.
5th lesson. When using VR, it’s preferable to switch to cockpit view.
A little too much to the right, but I managed to land at the runway.
Frame of the YouTube shorts I’ll publish this Monday (1200 GMT).
Slipping over the runway (frame from the video).
Just before correcting for touch (another frame from the video).
6th lesson: thermal soaring. Low speed, 45º turns under cumulus.
Last, but not least, high pressure soaring. High speed near the ridge’s windward face.

I moved around quite a bit as a young person but finally settled in metro Vancouver in my 20’s with my wife. I haven’t been able to find my way into the IRL pilot seat yet, but the virtual world offers a reasonable substitute. I flew from Chang Mai to Bangkok today, a long way from the Bella Coola valley but reachable for my inner kid-virtual-pilot self
