Mauna Kea via RV-14A, recovered at Hilo. It took a bit to get up there!
San Jose to Monterey Regional - declared pop-up IFR as the weather socked in at cruise. The view from the Vans is very very nice.
Pity you can’t spend the “revenue” in the MSFS store! ![]()
On February the 8th, 1919, the Goliath went into the history books with the first ever passenger flight.
Toussus-le-Noble (LFPN - South of Versailles); to RAF Kenley, near Croydon, London - couldn’t find it so I landed as near as possible - Heathrow. Stopping briefly in Berck Sur Mer (LFAM) before crossing the channel. The journey was 2.5 hours.
The aircraft is open to the elements, they flew some flights at 20,000 feet. Given that each 1000’ is a loss of 2 degree Celsius…..that’s cold. The passengers may have had -12 degrees C in the cabin.
On the runway at Toussus-le-Noble
The spectacular view the pilot had:
The Goliath stopped briefly in Berck Sur Mer (LFAM) before crossing the Chanel to London.
I took a bearing of 315 degrees and flew it until I saw the peninsula with the white cliffs on the left - miss it and fly up the Irish Sea.
From here I changed bearing to 330 and headed to RAF Kenley (Heathrow in my case).
Circled around to hit the flight path (mine). Very difficult to keep aligned with the runway. Very slow to respond to changes of direction resulting in over correction and see-sawing. (maybe me being used to small planes).
Contrast between the old and new:
So, 2.5hour flight, -12 degrees Celsius for any parts at 20,000’ ….. I’m sticking with Easy Jet etc and a warm nap mid flight.
EGLL > EIDW
Series X/ default a320 SU12beta
Windy and rainy approach into Dublin, I swear every time I fly to Ireland the scenery is stunning, they did a really good job here.
I haven’t been able to sim for a while due to work not leaving me much free time to actually set up and do a flight. I did a fresh install of Windows and while installing the FBW 320 I noticed FSLT was in there so I decided to give it a try. Have to say it really takes the sim to a much higher level when flying using AI. I managed to get a flight in today with the 737-800 and while I was unloading in Johannesburg, I looked around outside and an Emirates 777 was heading to the gates next to me. Had a look on FR24 and sure enough that flight had landed a few minutes earlier.
Turned multiplayer on and tried to take off from KLAX:)
After permission and waiting for players to take off.. see:
Great reverse and timely applied brakes for the pilot in front of me..![]()

NZQN → NZCS. Super pretty, low and slow sight seeing up the Kawarau in the Cannibal Queen. Did a crosswind takeoff on the smaller 32 runway out of Queenstown and turned downwind immediately before crossing 23 so as not to disrupt the srs bsns Live Player commercial traffic. Overflew the suspension bridge and the big fruit sculpture in Cromwell, which took way too long to find. I thought it was going to be this giant thing lol. Then a few touch and goes at the airstrip, which are always a lot more fun on grass for some reason.
Bergen (ENBR) to Oslo (ENGM) in the HondaJet:
Sadly I could only log in a bit late, by the time I arrived Oslo ATC logged off. Still it was a nice flight, Norway looks fine from above and for quite a part of the way I had 80kn tailwind. Happyness is 480kn GS ![]()
It ended abruptly, throwing me into a huge overspeed, I was lucky MSFS did not decide I ruined the plane..
Video later here:
Flew the best cross-field left base landing in months after an hour flight from Martinique to Antigua. Too bad I forgot I was in a taildragger, braked too hard and nosed it in after greasing the landing. LOL. ![]()
Hello everyone,
I have just landed in South America, obviously on my last flight I had to cheat slightly and refuel in the air. I couldn’t find any other solution for this leg, there is no island in between where I could refuel.
Since the last post I have modified my plan and decided to visit all three capitals in South Africa.
There are really very few flights left to complete the trip ![]()
The plan for the next few flights:
Thank you for your attention, see you later!
