I really wanted to try the Citation X in VR, so I did a short leg from Doha Hamad (OTHH) to Muscat (OOMS) using BeyondATC:
It’s not the best plane in VR, for example right mouse button zoom in zooms beyond the instruments, the mouse pointer is only at the right place in the left eye, so I had to close my right eye every time I tried to interact with the FMS. But on the other hand the cockpit itself is very nice in 3D, the instruments are easy to read. I don’t think this will be my go to plane in VR, I believe the Turbine Duke is way better for that, or even the Avanti, but I just might do similar short flights in the Citation X in VR every now and then.

Since I decided I wanted to spend entirely too much money on addons this month, I picked up the iFly 737 MAX-8 and took her out for a test flight from Portland, Maine to Ronald Regan National in DC.
Due to weather, I wasn’t able to experience the famed River Visual Approach for RWY 19, but boy did this plane sure impress me. I can definitely see myself logging plenty of flight hours.
In all honesty though, this will probably be my last big purchase for a while: I have a good lineup of GA aircraft, including some decent bush planes and choppers, some terrific turboprops, a decent biz jet, and now a full range of airliners to complete both Airbus and Boeing routes (even if they aren’t exactly the same plane, for example using the MAX 8 for other 737 non-MAX-8 routes).
Now if I could just finish that world tour…

Continued the World Tour from Gwadar to Karachi, Pakistan (OPKC) in the Starship. The weather started out nice enough in the midmorning, but as we approached Karachi, we ran into some haze then rainstorms, which have been causing torrential flooding for the last few days in Pakistan’s largest city.
Karachi is the 12th largest city in the world, boasting inhabitants for millennia. The beautiful city is a cultural center in Pakistan, also serving as a financial and industrial powerhouse for the country.
The Starship herself performed beautifully. Although there aren’t as many radio nav aids in this part of the world, we relied totally on radio navigation, which helped to refresh my memory on some practices that I haven’t used in several weeks.
From here, we are going to turn towards New Dehli, heading inland on the Indian subcontinent, then eventually toward Nepal and the majestic Himalayas. With a bit of luck, we will reach Everest in 3-4 more legs.
