What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 3)

First flight of the iFly 737 Max in MSFS 2024 for me. A little different than other add-ons in terms of cockpit interactions. The iFly 737 is a little buggy as it is experimental. Navigraph charts and maps won’t load to the EFB and not all functions work with my Flight Panels and Strean Deck+ peripherals.

It does fly much better than an Asobo 737. I like the flight characteristics of the PMDG Boeings better, as they feel more like a real simulator.

[MSFS 2020] It’s been 6 and a half weeks since I’ve managed to squeeze in a sim session, but last night I thankfully ticked off the next leg of my SmartLynx European charter series, following on from my last sector taking the A320 into Corsica.

The next booking we managed to secure was a corporate conference group who had 170 odd passengers needing to be carried back to Airbus headquarters at Toulouse. LFKB - LFBO is an easy 405nm hop, across the Mediterranean and along the French Rivera, crossing overhead Marseille and Montpellier before descending into ‘La Ville Rose’. Boarding at dawn afforded us some beautiful sunrise views during the climbout over Bastia, with some wonderful winter morning misty atmospherics greeting us on descent and approach to Flightbeam’s Blagnac Airport.

…to be continued…

KFVE → KHUL, touring the very northeast edge of Maine I had to pull out the Halifax sectional for this one.

Technically I crashed on the last flight. Lining up in the parking spot at the very end, I stepped on the brakes too hard and the tail lifted off the ground, and apparently it slammed down hard enough to trigger a crash. /le sigh

Luckily there was a crack team of A&Ps that happened to be sitting around the northern tip of Maine that had experience working on WWII airframes. So we’ll say I spent the last week down for repairs.

It’s gotten cold in that time, and there’s a light dusting of snow on the ground and frost on the grass, but the sun is out today and we’re ready to go.

Easy peasy VFR checkpoints today making this 75 nm cross country a cake walk.

I wasn’t expecting to pick up ice given the mostly clear skies though. I dove down to get below the few clouds and it melted.

Gorgeous evening light, made it in just after sunset.

Nag and I finished the final part of our Strategic Air Command tour. Head over to Pee-Wee and Nag’s Sky Tours (and Other Thoughts) and give it a read. And remember, we always love feedback, positive or negative. (I prefer the positive!)

2020, New Chitose to Haneda… Practice makes perfect. This flight was all the forgotten bits relearned and went well. Then, the other day, a new version released by FSS. At least they are doing their best.

Checked out the latest update for the freeware PBY Catalina on a quick flight from North Las Vegas to a lake about 15mi east of Vegas. She’s pretty but not fast

Been a busy month with real life work, but finally found some time to hop into the TBM 850 and take my next leg on the World Tour, from Lhasa, Tibet back into India to Dibrugarh. Overall, we had a clear day, but some fog and heavy winds made landing a bit difficult. Still, it felt great to be back in the air.

From here, we will take a couple of legs to get over to Hanoi and then hop over to Hong Kong, following the coast over to Taiwan, and then into the Land of the Rising Sun.

Went on from Aalborg (EKYT) to Odense H.C. Andersen (EKOD) in the Turbine duke on Vatsim:

Did not have luck with ATC, Kobenhavn CTR logged off just as I was about to ask for clearance, so I was on unicom all the way. The trip was nice though and landing was okayish. No video this time.
