What has your VR experience been like in Microsoft 2024 so far?

I’ve just had another session interrupted by this and although I was able to complete the Career Mode mission, if it keeps happening, I might need to consider getting a cable to replace VD.

I never had this problem with FS2020 and I suspect it is something to do with FS24, but no idea how.

Given the apparent lack of interest in VR shown by the devs on FS24, I’d be amazed if they ever find let alone fix this one, so we can only hope that it gets fixed by accident. There maybe something that can be done at the VD end, I suppose, but we’ll have to wait and see.

…..you always have your best friend to fire up you know

Ah, DCS World? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I had the Same i turned off Hags this fixed it for me. But another user said for useing Hags you have to Turn off Low Latency mode.

I’ve had Profile F set up for a few days but I can’t get Ultra Quality to show up in the settings. I use Performance now but wondering if something is not up set up properly since Ultra Quality is not available?

The post below is a good start. However, I’m not completely convinced if it is needed or not. I haven’t tested the same settings I have on E.

Make sure to set Enable to True as well. You don’t need to restart the sim either, it takes right away.

I tried Ultra Quality at 0.75 and performance started to get bad and didn’t look much different than Performance.

It is already on True and i renamed the nvngx.dll file to dxgi.dll and ran dlsstweaks as administrator. Still no Ultra Quality

Just noticed Ultra Quality is set to 0.00. is that why? I’ll try with 0.69 like in your screenshot

Might be, good luck!

I picked that since it’s what Diego had in his video. 0.75 for me was very low performance.

I kept having this issue, so eventually I reinstalled the VD Streamer App, just in case that had somehow become corrupted. So far, it seems to be working, but whether that’ll last remains to be seen.

I do have HAGS on btw, but I have low latency off, so if the problem recurs, I might just try turning HAGS off. Your suggestion might be what’s needed thanks.

ls your system powerful enough to run DLSS Ultra Quality in VR? I’m on Pimax Crystal 4312x5102 per eye, 7800x3D and 4090 and DLSS is the maximum I can get with 35-40 FPS.

Yea i mainly wanted to make sure I’ve got dlsstweaks set up properly. I’ll likely stick with Performance with Profile F, I keep trying higher upscaling using openxr and i’ll probably stick with 2900x3004 per eye with a 4070ti super. I managed to get around 50fps on the ground and 55-60fps above ground.

I tried DLAA at lower resolutions but I’m getting better quality and performance with Performance mode with a higher resolution

I assume you are not using Pima Crystal for which the default resolution is 4312 x 5102 (I use it for DLSS Quality, for DLSS Performance I go higher like 4500 x xxxx). If you go lower the visual quality will suffer, but FPS will go up. I prefer visual quality over FPS, 35-40 FPS in MSFS2024 is OK for me (VR in MSFS2024 seems more fluid for me compared to 2020, so I can accept lower FPS).

Pimax Crystal, 7800x3D, 4090

What refresh rate (hz) are you running for 35-40fps to seem smooth? I don’t mean in terms of “that’s not enough fps to feel smooth”, which is highly subjective.
I mean in the sense of fps being mismatched to hz. If you can hold 40fps (and lock it) , 80hz works very well for example. Or 36fps at 72hz.

But when you are fluctuating +/-5fps, there are always bound to be sync-related stutters/judders.
I can only highly recommend locking fps at half refresh.

A solid 36fps native can be doubled up to 72fps, for me via Virtual Desktop and this provides a very passable experience.

However, you can never get enough performance and I’m only getting that on stock GA fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. When I graduate up to tubeliners, I’m expecting to have to lower my settings significantly to get to 36fps again.

Some form of significant optimisation is our only hope, methinks.

its not its graphics, theory, and physics. its not magic. people setting things and not knowing why they work or claiming things are great without understanding their settings thats misleading everyone…

I’m running literally double that resolution at 45fps + flawless MR up to 90FPS in 2020. So 30fps at 3100px looks like a joke in comparison tbh. Yes TAA blah blah but scaled up super sampling + DLSS will always get to a better quality / FPS tradeoff if you have the curiosity to try it properly.

In 2024 I can run 45fps, no MR at 5300px, but it stutters badly in tree areas>

For kicks I went out and doubled my RAM too, went from 32GB to 64GB DDR5. I’m on a 13900k + 4090. Double the RAM made absolutely zero difference, unsurprisingly, but since I am a curious person I though I’d try. I can see in some rare circumstances with heavy mods, airliners, even MSFS memory leaks, more RAM would be used, but it doesn’t doesn’t doesn’t fix terrible GPU performance the sim has, that to date, noone has been able to refute.

Subjectively I perceive it smooth. Is all about perception, our brains are different.
I prefer visual clarity over temporal smoothness, and in MSFS2024 (unlike 2020) 35+ FPS is enough for me.
I’m on Pimax Crystal, 7800x3D, 4090, for me the minimal resolution for acceptable clarity is the default 4312 x 5102 per eye, DLSS Quality, TLOD 100. I also have relatively high settings in the MSFS, so seems like I would need 5090 to reach consistent 45 FPS. I’m running Crystal at 90Hz, it allows going down to 72Hz, but at such lowered rate I perceive strobing in bright areas like clouds, and I can’t stand it.
We all perceive differently and different image projection characteristics matter for us.

Just on the tree comment, there is something weird visually going on with densely populated areas, I see a shimmering effect no matter what preset and target fps I set

I had a weird one in the SWS Kodiak, moved over from FS2020.

When the engine was running, there was a significant shimmering effect visible around the throttle quadrant, that was quite uncomfortable to see. It disappeared when I stopped the engine and reappeared on restarting. It looks like a misplaced exhaust, spewing heat haze into the cockpit.

It wasn’t visible, when I Ctrl-tabbed back to pancake mode.

I have a Quest 3, connected wirelessly via Virtual Desktop, by the way.
