It’ll take at least 8 months to fix VR, let alone improve performance…
What a disgrace…
VR is assigned to Martial, to me he was never a big fan of VR, going back at how it was handled in MSFS2020, remember the explanation about the shutdown bug? Yeah, things will be kept on the back burner…
and don’t forget they all fly in VR!
Ah yeah, I can also buy a racing helmet, put it on a desk behind me and say I’m a racing driver…
They’re just joking with us now…
Yeah - Microsoft / Asobo - where ‘everybody flies VR all the time!’
This is when I stopped believing anything they tell us until I see it in person. These VR pronouncements were obviously 100% BS.
It is very very clear absolutely no one bothered with VR as the project was headed out the door…
It’s going to take until Sim Update 2, because either…
- The VR “devs” they have right now, need more time to learn how to actually develop VR.
- They don’t actually have any VR devs and need time to hire some.
I’m half joking, but I mean…what else could cause it to take so long? ~10 months after release to fix a mouse not working in VR? I’m no expert by any measure…But that seems like an excessively long time.
Now excuse me while I load up 2020.
If only they could recruit devs who knew how to develop in VR.
Well not mentioning any names, but there is a very talented expert who brought us a fantastic free tool that brought significant benefits to most vr users, who suggested to his knowledge there wasn’t any dedicated developers. I’m sure his post is still on the forum, maybe under quad views if any wants to seek it out.
The dedicated VR developers, if there were any, were probably all let go, when MS/Asobo spread the VR function out among the rest of the team.
That reorganisation was part of a public announcement, not long after the original release of FS2020 IIRC.
my experience? i discover REVO Unnistaller work very well woth this type of “software”
Latency in VR has been a very stuttery 600 plus. Just like watching a slide show. Switch to MSFS2020 and its super smooth with Active Sky and FSTL traffic. Fenix, Ifly and PMDG all working smoothly. What the hell is wrong with 2024. Theres just no consistency. Its a different experience every time I use it.
They don’t have VR devs, they disbanded VR team ~3 years ago. They just keep VR code as a legacy feature, and the regular devs will need to somehow fix the toolbar and EFB issue. I would not expect any other VR fixes or optimizations.
VR will be disregarded again in Sim updates apparently. Why VR bugs never find a spot on their to-do list, i do not comprehend… Should we always wait almost a year for even smaller bugs?
See my answer above
I have to say that following a few years away from a previous favourite sim, being able to spend all of my sim-time learning to fly an A10C again and use all of the weapon systems, without having to spend ages figuring out how to make VR work better, has been a breath of fresh, albeit cordite filled, air.
I’m having a ball.
What VR devs lol. As if they exist. No point even mentioning the word. Based on the evidence, they have an otter (pretending to be an intern) on it at best
Unfortunately that legendary individual has stated multiple times that he wouldn’t be interested in that gig.
My VR experience is frustrating.
Everytime i play 2024 in VR its different with about a 25% full flight success rate. The tool bar works one time then not. The mouse doesnt interact with the controls for no apparent reason. The game goes to black screen if i go out of vr then back in sometimes. Im afraid to try that if the flight is going well. I have had the odd perfect flight and its very good. Love the walk around and interaction when it works. Its just so disappointing to go tthrough the 15 minute setup only to reboot my pc and start over. If i want to just get up in vr and fly, i use 2020.
I wish they sold this game as “early access”. Then those of us who dont want the frustration could have sat this one out until it was ready. It does have great potential and 25% of the time its a fun experience. That is not good enough.
