I installed the game yesterday and to be honest havent had any issues with servers or connectivity, but the loading screen at startup always takes 10-15 minutes to get through “Activating Packages” starting at around 7% up to 25% or so, from there it goes basically right into the game menus.
Does anyone know what this is doing? Is this expected?
AFAIK it’s trying to contact the servers, check what content you have in your account so it can stream it to you. This was one of the reasons the launch was a shajtshow. Too many activation requests to the server, them timing out, not allocating all the content it should to players - missing airplanes etc. And it will do this every time. The time it takes is dependent on the server load.
It doesn’t matter nothing changed, it has to check with the server each time, because content is streamed. I can only assume (and hope) once the option to download is in, then it won’t check it if it’s offline.
Also, compared to 2020, FSX, FS9, the loading time are lightning fast! So be grateful at least for that
Yes, they must fix the startup time. They Must. Late last night I was in the sim within 3 minutes, but today it took 15 min. Holy moly - this has to stop.
If I start at the same airport, getting on the tarmac is very fast once the sim is loaded so the cache is working there. I don’t see a reason why they can’t cache the private data and scan it quickly in some way. But who am I to know?
Who knows that that means exactly, but FWIW, for me with 500mbps internet in NYC, the loading bar from ‘activating packages’ to the main menu takes maybe 60 seconds. This morning i loaded in just fine as i have for the past 3 days.
Sounds like it all over the place. I have a 1000 MBPS connection, no issues streaming or anything once I’m in it’s just this one step that takes forever every time. Very weird to see such variation.
Im in Canada on the US West servers, for reference (PC, Windows Store)
I have observed msfs 2024 starting and for me internet usage peaks with Activating language, then once Activating packages starts it quickly goes down to 0%, but disk and ram usage increases with steady 30% cpu usage. I wouldn’t be surprised if it just decrypts some files before continuing the loading process, since after it follows with loading objects phase.
But this is just my guess really.
Same here. Since Wednesday morning at roughly this time, it’s never taken me more than a minute and forty five seconds to get from launching the game to the world menu. I’ve started and shut down the game probably two dozen times.
I’m still having this issue as well. Incredibly slow progress bar at launch. I tried the “verify field and reset” but didn’t help. My community folder is empty. My internet is fine, task manager shows very little network activity.
I’m a bit at a loss. It feels like a server issue but many don’t seem to have that issue?
I am having a similar issue and have since day 1. It will seemingly only load to 6, 9, or 12% and stay there forever. I’ve gotten the sim to launch a couple times but there is no repeatable method to reliably get it to work… I have 84 hours logged in steam, but only about 3 have actually been in the sim, the rest have either been active troubleshooting or letting it sit for hours and hours to see if it’d resolve itself. I even resorted to doing a clean install of Windows to try and deal with this problem.
The lack of communication about this (and other major issues) has honestly been very frustrating. I know 2020 also had a rough launch, but I absolutely loved the sim and these gamebreaking issues are such a bummer. I know many big games have teething pains and messy launches, but this seems extreme.
Yeah after activating packages finishes it goes to loading SimObjects and from there I’m at the menus in about 30 seconds. It’s definitely just that one part for me that drags.
Edit: Here’s an image from taskmanager…nothing really happening network wise, so no clue what is going on here
I’m really at a loss here, it takes forever to load. I have fast internet, my community folder is empty. I’m on the west coast, as I’ve seen people have success using a VPN to connect to US servers. I tried resetting the files but it really feels like a server issue. Just weird that many don’t seem to have that problem anymore?
I too don’t see much network activity in the task manager. Not sure what else I could try
