What is currently best helicopter to fly?

I am going to start getting my feet wet flying helicopters in the sim. Could somebody tell me which version and developer is the best for the H135?

The H135 is probably the best helicopter for MSFS now.

The Bell 47 by FlyInside is by far the best. The 135 by Hype Performance just does not replicate rotary flight accurately at all. This is no fault of their own - Msfs just doesn’t support it yet.

FlyInside inject a custom flight model that handles the more challenging aspects of flying a helicopter.

Without a custom flight model like the Bell47 has you will get a pseudo rotary experience which can be fun but feels a bit like flying a scifi hovercraft.

Thanks so much for the information. There are a large selection of helicopters now, so i wanted to start out on the current best model.

I wouldn’t call 2 Helicopters “a large selection”
It Bell 47G and H135. Thats it so far.

Of the two only the Bell47G has a proper heli flight model (and it’s outstanding)
The H135 has been fun and i spent a lot of time in it but the flight model is pretty garbage and the modeling is average at best, though more than good enough for a free addon. Their upcoming payware H145 will need to be 10x better in all aspects to make it a worthwhile investment.

So yes, while there are other helis in the works the only high quality payware heli addon so far is the Bell47G. It’s a must buy imo. As the H135 is free it’s a no brainer as well, just dont expect good flight physics.

I totally agree with that. Just a warning it is hard work to fly the Bell 47 as it has no trim or SAS. So on longer flights you have to constantly push the stick forward to keep the heli in the correct position.
But it has the best helicopter flight model here in FS2020.
The H135 is very easy to fly and has autopilot and trimmer, but it does not have the real helicopter feeling I think.

The latest update of the Bell 47 does have elevator trim control.

Well I really meant that there are a lot of versions of the H135 from different developers. I was wondering which rendition is the best. But, I think you have made a great case for the Bell.

I appreciate all of the great input guys. This has been very helpful.

Nope…im still confused  There is one H135 for MSFS by one developer (HPG)

Just two types, but many paint schemes, especially for the H135 which to be fair has a lot more panel surface to make schemes on but isn’t realistic in terms of helicopter flight (still fun though and easier to fly). There are at least two more coming pretty soon and three others that may come behind. Take a look at this Development Update One | Freeware Helicopter | MSFS2020 | Flight Simulator | Airbus | Robinson

FS doesn’t have a flight model for helicopters.
The best is Bell 47. Comparable to helicopters in GTAV.

GTAV. Great pedigree!

Are you seriously comparing the Bell47 flight model to GTAV’s? If so, that’s the funniest thing I’ve read on this forum.

probably my mistake, (see photo). I thought these were all aircraft downloads, but apparently, they are mods for the Hyp H135. My mistake.

Is there any doc I can get that goes further in depth on the autopilot and NAV system for the H135? Startup and basic flight is all I see documentation on.

If you have questions, drop in on their Discord channel. They’re a friendly and approachable bunch and always happy to help.

The work on the AH-64D that was shown off months ago, before they focused on the H135, has stalled indefinitely, I suppose?
