Hi, is was wondering what currently the best addon scenery is for the sim. Just to clarify, I mean airports that can handle airliners.
(I know that this is probably the wrong tag but I couldn’t find anything associated with airports)

EGNX by Pyreegue
‘Best’ is subjective because some excel in specific areas but are poor(er) in others. Some airports look really nice but those aesthetics often belie their performance.
I think, all things considered, the current benchmark scenery that balances performance, aesthetics and immersion is arguably Pyreegue’s new EGNX.
Honourable mentions (for me anyway) are FlyTampa’s KBOS, IniBuilds’ KLAX and KOKC, Aerosoft’s LDZA, Orbx’s YBMK and LYTV, Paulo Ricardo’s SBKP, Just Flight’s GCRR, AUScene’s YAYE, plus Pyreegue’s own EGAA, EGPF and EGPH.
There are many other gorgeous looking airports out there but, in my experience, their performance/stability doesn’t match any of the above.
Very good list! Don‘t agree with KOKC necessarily though.
What I also enjoy are:
YSSY by FlyTampa
LFLL by Digitaldesign
LOWS by Digitaldesign
LOWW by Gaya
EDDB by Aerosoft
EDDM by sim-wings
EBBR by Aerosoft
EDDH by sim-wings
EGLC by Orbx
KLAS by FlyTampa
KVCV by Xometry
LEBL by LVFR
LFBO by Flightbeam
LGAV by FlyTampa
RJAA by Drzewiecki
Also anything from NZA Simulations and ACO Design Studio and Pyreegue
There are just too many great ones, sorry
All good ones you’ve listed above but, due to issues with lower-spec PCs and Xbox, I cannot put them in the same league as those I listed. Ini’s KOKC has a fantastic terminal interior and some really good, high-res detail around the airport — with no impact on performance. And those KC-135s look fantastic, even close up!
As I say, ‘best’ is subjective due to the sheer number of variables. But those I listed above have been rock solid for me, while presenting a very high level of detail, both airside and landside. Drzewiecki’s KDCA nearly made my list but the landside detail is relatively poor. Same with their RJAA (which has superb landside detail) and EETN but a handful of minor flaws just kept them at bay.
LVFR’s LEBL is a great performer but, detail-wise, not comparable with anything I listed.
There are no doubt more superlatives but I can only compile a ‘top’ list based on what I own. If I had an RTX 4090 with the latest i9 GPU and 64mb RAM, my results would likely differ but with MSFS, you have to adopt a ‘one size fits all’ kind of attitude.
LJLJ by Scenic Routes blew me away. I haven’t been back recently to see if it’s still working properly.
Thanks for the list, I do have the new EGNX but for me it’s not very great on performance, I have a 3060TI and the Ryzen 5 5600 and I get around 27-29 FPS with overall around medium settings and 6 vatsim planes so idk what’s up with that lol.
Same goes for the KLAX, that’s allmost non doable with moments I only get like 23 FPS during and after landing
Thanks for the list, I will look into them!

Its working fine. Been there a couple of times since the WU.
I’ll probably go with YMML Melbourne International Airport from ORBX. It’s my homebase. It has built-in GSX Profile, VDGS, and so many customisation options to have the sim populated with pax in the terminal, cars parked at the parking building, as well as animated Skybus that takes you from the airport to CBD… I love it.
As my tag shows “I concur” …YMML by ORBX.
Sounds good, I will look into it. I don’t believe I have been in Australia yet but I’ve heard it’s beautiful
Hmmm… beautiful is subjective, and depends on your definition. I think it’s beautiful because it’s a cultural melting pot, it has great culture shows and performances, great coffee and overall a really nice place to live.
But if you’re looking for awesome natural greenery and scenery, there are more beautiful places elsewhere.
Your Mileage May Last
I’m quite fond of UK2000’s KSNA (John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California), both for nostalgia (I grew up in the area and still fly in there all the time to visit family) and for its fun properties.
The on-site FBOs, museum etc are modeled nicely, as well as the outdoor GA parking spots and a lot of static parked planes (you can optionally install a version with no static planes too). Some interior terminal details which you can see when taxiing past the terminal, which has large glass windows IRL.
KSNA has two runways, one 2886 feet which mostly handles the GA planes and one 5700 feet which handles the jet traffic. MSFS’s ATC doesn’t do a super great job in that it’ll usually put GA planes on the big runway that I suspect would be given the small runway IRL, but them’s the breaks. MSFS also lands what look like full-size jetliners on the 2886-foot runway which I am suspicious of. [John Wayne serves commercial airline traffic, private jets, and small GA planes, and it’s super busy both IRL and in sim with live traffic enabled.]
It’s also compact; the “long” runway at 5700 feet is enough space for B737 and A320-class planes but a bit short for wide-bodies! On the plus side, you’ll spend less time taxiing around than you will at KLAX.
I really like this as my ‘operational base’ for Southern California local flights, as well as a occasional IFR flights up to the Bay Area or Pacific Northwest.
There’s also a nice freeware version of KSNA on flightsim . to which is pretty good but lacks the interior details and such IIRC.
As someone who has just bought all airports British airways fly to, yes it was a big hit on my wallet, the following are the best developers imo.
Pyreegue
Ini-builds
A beautiful world
OrbX
Mk-Studios
Fly tampa
I personally find the next list the worst.
AmSim
FeelThere
JustSim
LatinVFR makes some really good looking sceneries but they seem to hit harder on your performance than they probably should and on Xbox, avoid like the plague. When I was on Xbox these crashed the sim or caused black screens before you even got close to them.
That being said, all of these developers do a better job than Asobos handcrafted airports and are deffo an upgrade to non handcrafted airports. So if you want to fly to somewhere regularly don’t be put off by the developer. They will still be better than the alternative.
Also, if you use gsx, fsdreamteam airports are probably the best to pick for wherever they offer because the gsx profile is spotless. Which I cannot say for most other airports. Even when I get a gsx profile from the airport developer themselves I have to constantly tweak it
I only have LVFR’s LEBL but it’s a very stable airport on Xbox. It’s a funny scenery because, on the one hand, there are some really nice details (good ground textures, weeds growing out of the apron and taxiway surfaces), but on the other, some pretty average-to-poor ones.
I don’t have any MK-Studios airports but probably wouldn’t hesitate to buy one. I think 12 months ago they were pretty poor but they seem to have upped their game significantly lately. Only thing is, I hear their better-detailed airports run poorly on Xbox?
Amsim seem pretty average. I think they’re a reliable dev — just not one with any sort of sterling reputation for detail or performance. I’ve always felt that way about Beautiful Model, too — very average-looking airports that apparently are tough on hardware resources. Just Sim are… well… Just Sim! Bland airports that seem to perform okay, but a business ethic that seems to involve pipping other devs to the post in getting their rendition out first. Not unscrupulous per se, but a bit cheeky.
Largely agree with the rest of your ‘top devs’ list. I’d add Burning Blue, Roman Design (brilliant customer support from both), Paulo Ricardo, Aerosoft, Just Flight and Drzewiecki, although Drzewiecki’s customer service can be a bit curt at times. Smaller devs like Burning Blue, Ricardo and Roman often go unnoticed because their scope is very limited to specific regions.
Very strange you have had a good experience with LEBL on xbox as this is the one that caused me the most problems, but that is indicative of the black screen issue on xbox. Vastly different experiences for different users and I have no idea why. Happy to be on PC now because LEBL and LEMD by LVFR are beautiful airports and my PC is beastly enough to not care about the performance.
I am surprised you don’t like A beautiful model of the world sceneries. I love their Venice, I purchased Valencia and Pamplona but I will be honest, I still haven’t flown to them yet. I just thought if Venice was anything to go by, they would be good.
MK-Studios are new to me, never had them on xbox so cannot comment xbox performance. But flew into KPHL (Philadelphia) last night and it was very realistic on approach and while taxying. Also the interior was pretty sweet when I went on a drone look about.
I only have AMSims Funchal (Madeira) and it was pretty lacklustre. I opted for any other dev where possible in other locations so maybe it is just that one. But left a bad taste in my mouth for the price. I think if they had reworked the area around the airport too it would of been worth the price and I could deal with the somewhat lacklustre texturing. But seeing the island of Madeira looks awful in the sim in general, the poor texturing of the airport makes being there and flying there a bit of a horrible experience. Being the 9th hardest approach in the EU, there is a big gap in the market to make the island and airport with great texturing.
Aerosoft I forgot to add, they are really good!
No experience with Burning Blue or Roman Design or Paulo Ricardo, guess they don’t make sceneries BAW fly to?
Drzewiecki’s sceneries are also very good, I agree.
Not that I don’t like them; I’ve just never considered their stuff because it looks a bit… sanitised, if you know what I mean? Plus others have reported performance issues on Xbox.
I think if you’re grading airports, you have to consider two main factors: aesthetic detail (immersion) and performance/stability — particularly for Xbox. I briefly had Northern Sky’s Juneau — beautiful airport but it just kept crashing the sim, regardless of what aircraft I flew. The odd thing is, those that do crash the sim on Xbox often aren’t particularly stuttery (except BB’s Farnborough!), which tells me that optimisation is the problem, rather than the console’s flat-out inability to handle intricate detail. Pyreegue’s airports are the perfect example of highly complex airports running flawlessly on Xbox, so the whole ‘it’s too detailed for Xbox’ argument falls apart.
That’s not to say the console can rival the very best PCs, because there’s just no way. But there are clearly ways to mitigate the effects of Xbox’s insufficient VRAM.
