What is the most popular plane in the sim?

This plane. The Daher-Socata TBM 930

Thanks for showing me the picture and what it stands for.

I like just about anything GA. I spend a lot of time in the TBM and 172, although I also like twins. I’ve enjoyed a few nice flights in the twin Diamond, and I feel like I need to spend a little more time with the Baron too.

The stock DA62 bugged me until I tried the DA62X mod that fixes the ā€˜wrong’ stuff with it.

Baron is so nice in so many ways, but disappointing in others since it’s so incomplete and unfinished.

I’ll have to try out the DA62X (and the G1000, since it’s required too).

If you like the DA62m you’ll love the mod. It’s worth it just for the ground handling, IMHO.

Totally agree…same here. learned to fly on basic instruments, a map and a stop watch lol

But in the sim I like to try all aircraft and combinations.

Cessna 208 Grand Caravan. Do not know why but I do really like it.

I got into the caravan lately after watching a doco on bush pilots flying in Papua New Guinea. One of the most hazardous places to fly and yet these guys will dodge the weather in the mountains and land on the most god-awful strips. I don’t always do so well, lol.

For fooling around I really like the Pitts Special, doing low flying river runs or whatever. The Aermacchi MB-339 is also a lot of fun. Tubeliner of choice is the FBW A320

I find myself mostly in the TBM for short to medium flights. The Cessna Longitude for medium to long.

Statistically, it is TBM according to ASOBO. A month after the game release, ASOBO release the data and stated TBM was the most popular. I have not even flown it a single time personally.

The 172 is my current favorite, because I learned to fly in one and have the bulk of my hours in Cessnas, followed by the Bonanza with the turbo mod.

The TBM for long hauls.

But there is something about Steam Gauges that is incredibly familiar and comfortable…

You’ll be hooked in no time. There is simply nothing like the first time you are in the left seat and ease back the yoke at rotation speed. If you’re not smiling the first time you leave terra firma I’d be amazed…

The 172 I learned in was an ā€˜E’ model, the last year with manual flaps. Same with our club 150E. You reached down between the seats and pulled flaps on like you would a parking brake. 40 degrees brought you down to just above 40 knots stall… really easy to land on a short field.

Short list of my favorites would be:

G36 Bonanza
C208 Caravan
X-cub

I learned to fly IRL in a steam gauge Cessna, but oddly I don’t fly it a lot in sim. I do fly it for sure, just not on longer flights because it’s a touch slow.

But I tend to jump around a lot and fly a different plane every other time, so I’m not sure how much my picks for ā€œpopularā€ aircraft matter. I try to fly them all.

Cessna C-172 (Steam version)
Carenado M20R
TBM 930

Aircraft i’ve flown the most ingame:

King Air 350
SR22
Cessna C172 G1000

King air 350i is my most used. I randomly use some of the smaller planes.
I don’t use the airliners much. Sometimes I’ll take one for a spin but I’m not that familiar with them.

The B787 is my favorite, followed up by the vastly improved B748. As for props, the Bonanza is the one I seem to gravitate to.

The C-208 Caravan is the plane of choice for flying the islands in the Caribbean. If you haven’t had a proper vacation due to covid, seeing the islands is like a holiday!
