what settings and Nvidia driver version are you guys using now for Reverb G2 with SU5?
Are most on the latest .41 driver or are some still running 457.30?
I run .41 (went from 457.30) and can’t say I noticed any real difference.
What settings do you use in Nvidia driver? I’m still using CptLucky’s since january. Anyone did any testing with other settings?
Have you been able to increase some settings in sim since SU5?
I don’t really see any big performance increase, maybe 2-4 frames with SU5. Do you?
Any other tweaks to usercfg to get it run better or with better visuals?
I get more shimmering (both in cockpit and outside), clouds do not look very good (unnatural somehow, color banding), blurry ground textures etc. with SU5.
I invested the improved fps in an increase of TLOD and OLOD from 75 to 150 to try to compensate the blurry ground textures but it didn‘t help much. And I switched the clouds from low to medium. That‘s all. Now I wait for Asobo to anticipate the complaints of the PC simmers like you and me. We need a distinction between xBox-Rendering and PC-rendering and a reasonable consideration of the available RAM and VRAM.

I played around quite a lot last night trying to determine what was causing micro stutters when looking down at the ground. I think in the end i discovered Light shafts had to be off. Going to test further tonight.
I’m using OXR 70, TAA 100 and Terrain LOD 130, Object Load 100, most other settings at medium, some off, clouds High. It’s reasonably smooth. I upped terrain LOD from 90 and clouds from medium with SU5.
Some people seem to be able to push settings way higher with SU5, but I don’t see much of performance boost with it and still downgraded visuals (in VR). 2D gives higher FPS, but rarely flies in pancake mode.
Anyone found other Nvidia driver settings that works better than CptLucky’s ”old” settings?
I believe the Cap is redoing his guides but he’s prioritizing the Index over the G2. I assume most of the settings will carry over but he does not use any kind of Motion Reprojection / Index equivalent.
If you ARE a motion projection user the balance seems much more delicate between eliminating those micro stutters / judders.
I’m using these settings from VR Flight Sim Guy and so far so good…the only advice of his I’m not following is I have HAGS disabled. He has OXR 70 and TAA 120.
I run OXR70/TAA105 on a G2 and am very disappointed with SU5. Glass cockpits run much better, yes, but the overall performance has not improved much and the visual downgrade is awful.
Flying GA in rural settings and using the 200% render ‘hack’ I was getting 40-45+ FPS and gorgeous visuals, now I’m getting around 40 but it feels much less smooth and looks like cr*ap for various reasons (draw distance, pop in, fuzzy, grainy, shimmery, bad colours, bad textures etc.).
The weird panning is annoying too, as is the FPS drop you get when flying into clouds. I would roll back if I could. Really hope they fix the shimmering/jaggies, that’s almost the worst part right now.
Currently feel like I need two or more generations of hardware to do it justice again, i.e. Be able to raise the render scale to make it look sharp and still get 45fps+
Sadly enough, even if I managed to get it relatively smooth it just doesn’t feel ”right”.
Colour banding, clouds that look like a cartoon, poor textures, shimmering and pop-in destroys the immersion to me. No fun anymore…
I’m afraid these things will not get fixed in the upcoming fix either.
I don’t know how long you’ve been experimenting, but all that you described appeared for me with SU5. Granted, prior to this update, it was less smooth, but the issues you are listed are all new. With that in mind, I’m confident it’ll get fixed. They already acknowledged the texture and cloud issues. The shimmering is a known issue with thin objects too (since day 1 I believe). Don’t be discouraged, it’s gonna get there.
Let me list my complete settings and see if these work better for you:

Can I kindly ask you if you can report here your FPS?
I have a high end system and with settings like yours I get 35 - 45 fps and obviously the feeling is not very very smooth.
Today I’ve noticed also another thing, when FS2020 is launched with the WMR in parallel, so the system is in standby to kick in the VR (ctrl + tab), and while is still in 2D mode, the FPS are falling from 55 to 35 and as consequence my VR fps are a bit low as well then.
I don’t know, I am tired personally to do tests all day and not be able to fly this software and have some fun.
On my rig (i7 9700K@4.8GHz, RTX2080) I get around 27-31 FPS in the A320 (using OXR 70/TAA100, mix of off/low/med/high settings and TLOD/OLOD 120).
Since SU5 I don’t find changing settings really make a big difference to FPS. I don’t usually look at FPS, but try to get things as smooth as possible.
And I think you’re right that it felt smoother a couple of days ago before Hotfix 2.
The performance boost that should come with SU5 is to a large extent missing for me. I get similar FPS, but with worse graphics unfortunately.
But since the beginning of VR on MSFS I find it to be a different experience every single time more or less. One day it’s smooth and runs great, next day it’s jerky and a lot of stutters. Maybe it’s the servers? Which it seems we rely on more with SU5 having more scenery constantly downloading due to low RAM/VRAM usage (restrictions??).
