Hi there,
What was your first Microsoft Flight Simulator in the franchise? Any info or help is greatly appreciated. TIA
MSFS 5.0 for DOS. I received it as a Christmas gift in 1994.
Me as well, same time frame!
Someone installed it on the Control Room PC at work and it made an excellent way to pass the long backshift hours while the machinery hummed along.
FS5. Played it on my 486 screamer with 8 MB of RAM.
FS 95 was my first one
subLogic Flight Sim II on the Coco 3
MSFS 5.1 back in 1995
SubLogic on an Apple 2c.
SubLogic on an Amiga 2000 (loved that machine )
Not exactly answering the question but my first flight sim was Flight Simulation on the Spectrum, age 10 or so, which taught me the very basics of radio navigation and how to land a plane. It was very primitive, but I was captivated by it and the rest followed
Mine was Microsoft-Flight-Simulator 98.
Another one for Sublogic Flight Simulator II - on the Amiga for me.
I used to think it was so ultra realistic. Spent hours on that thing rather than doing my homework!!
I started on 98 too, though I couldn’t really land the plane after taking off. Took me a long while to get back at it and manage to land’em after getting off the ground!
Wow! Love the picture from FS2! I remember buying my first computer in the early 1980’s, an ATARI, with the floppy disks. FS was just wire frame buildings and runways but it sure was fun, and you could still learn VOR or NDB navigation. I’ve been flying every iteration since then though I have to admit MSFS2020 scared me- it was so much more "reaL’ in terms of learning the aircraft, etc. But, like each version so far, I’m now loving it. (Haven’t tried FS2024 and won’t till the balance of good to bad posts changes more to the good.)
SubLogic Flight Simulator for the Amiga.
I started with the very first MS Flight Sim back in 1982. I also used the Sublogic one. I have owned every MS flight sim since and I still own them. Although I did not buy MSFS 2024. My favorite is FS 2004 or FS9. I still use it from time to time because I have the B727-100/200 as well as the DC 9-30. I still love flying them using just VOR to VOR. And with the B727 there wasn’t any auto throttle.
My start was on FS2002 Pro, then FS9. I took a break from simming after that, then when the pandemic hit, I used my stimulus money to get a new computer and started back with MSFS - mostly to have something to do while I was stuck at home. Still running 2020 until 2024 gets sorted out.
