Yes, it works like the RealSimGear and Virtual Fly G1000s in that they are all extra monitors that you can drag the MSFS G1000 screens into. The Virtual Fly and RealSimGear G1000s use HDMI cable to attach to your computer; the Aviatek version uses DVI. And then the buttons interface with MSFS via SimConnect. So if you have the Nxi installed, you will get the Nxi. If you use the stock G1000, it will give you the stock G1000.
