What's happened to the sound?

Since the VR update there are no engine noises or air traffic control.

There are no noises other than the music.

What has happened to the sound? I can’t hear the engine, the stall warning, the height indicator, nothing!

Please, why have you released this with so many bugs? I may as well be flying a glider.

Is there a fix for this?

Have you checked to make sure windows is actually directing sound to the headset -assuming this is where you are lacking sounds?
Have you checked the in-game volume levels?
Have you tried in VR and on a screen to see if you are getting the same results?

Yes, yes and yes.

The music plays, but that’s it. Once in flight mode and the music goes there is no sound

I have the same issue. Sound is OK through Oculus Rift headphones until entering Flight mode, then nothing. Sound remains disabled for all apps until VR mode is exited, and back in GUI.

As a side note, the oculus app causes a framerate drop even when FS is not in VR mode.

Same problem. I have the rift s and when I switch to VR mode the sound stops working. Any ideas?

Sound works great through the rift s until I switch to be mode. Then the sound stops working.

Sorry “VR mode*”

Had the same issue.
I’ve fixed it by selecting another default audio device at windows taskbar.

“Headphone (Rift Audio)” instead of " Headphone (Oculus virtual audio device)"

This has been translated from german settings, might be in native english setups a bit different.

Thanks CRO4711,
I’ll give that a try and see if it fixes it. Appreciate you getting back to me.

Wow! Worked like a charm. Problem solved! Thanks again CRO4711.
I’m not a very computer savvy person, but I was curious as to you if the Monitor should be split screen like it is?

You’re welcome.

What you can see at the monitor, is exactly the same as in your VR device.
The bitmap is split to the two Rift LCD

That’s kind of what I was thinking. Appreciate the help. Good to know I didn’t screw something up

Sadly it didn’t work for me at all.

The music plays but no plane audio, no ATC, nothing. It’s like they’ve deleted the entire sound library bar the music.

I’ve reinstalled the game, but with no luck

Through what device are you hearing the music?

Speakers plugged into the PC

So let’s be clear are you using VR or just observed with the latest update you are experiencing this issue with the sound?
It may assist others in helping you if you post some basic information about your computer and run through the process of how you are starting a flight and then what you are experiencing.

So, the sound no longer works in the cockpit. This is both with and without the headset on. I’ve unplugged the headset and still no sound.

I’ve updated to the latest Oculus software and now the game CTDs when trying to get to the runway, not even in VR mode.

So, I’ve uninstalled Oculus software and uninstalled and am reinstalling flight sim for the 2nd time today to see if removing the VR headset from the PC completely works.

As I said, the game music plays fine, it’s all the other sounds.

If you want to see what I mean I streamed flight sim today https://twitch.tv/akcsl - skip to 30 minutes in and you’ll see, there’s game music but no flight sounds whatsoever.

This has only started since the VR update.

I’m running an AMD 5900x with RTX 2080 super GPU and a GoXLR mixer.

With or without headphones on, there’s no cockpit audio

Oculus uninstalled. Flight Sim uninstalled and reinstalled.

Still no in cockpit sound. I dispair

I am having your same problem, music and menu sounds are perfectly audible but no cockpit/engine/ambiental sounds, I am actually using a pair of Astro A50 3rd gen and my output is the “Game” channel in the Wave Link software. If anybody finds a solution to this please write it down here!!!

I had the same. As soon as ready to Fly in VR, no Sound from my Oculus RIft.
I have to take off the heaset, exit fullscreen mode, switch audio device in Windows Toolbar to “Rift Audio” and then it works.
When ending VR I have to undergo the same procedure to switch back to my speakers.

Kind of annoying that it is not switching automatically like any other VR program. Or is there a way to setup Oculus / Windows / MSFS to switch default device to “Rift Audio” when headset gets active and going back to Speakers when Headset is deactivated?
