What's wrong with MSFS 2024? Be specific

Definitely improvements need to be made in that regard, which I’m pretty sure will not be hard to fix. Same goes for the cockpit reflections, which are unrealistic and over done. Flying the JU-52 with its wonderful “glasshouse” cockpit, I get really weird fake reflections that look like an aurora on steroids.

Firstly to my eye, my 2024 shots look more like your 2020 shots than your 2024 shots - I have no idea why.
Secondly, leaving aside the sharpness/details for the moment and focusing on the colours and so called “washed out/hazy” effect I would ask the following.
What is more important in an image? Should it be pleasing to the eye or as close to reality as possible? A similar question pertaining to sound perception has been an on going issue in high end audio circles for decades.
Personally I am in the camp for both visual and audio, that leans towards the reality side of the equation and to my eye 2024 is closer to reality than 2020 is most of the time.

Yeah, I’m not sure what was going there either. It was pretty late when I did the test, so maybe I overlooked something.

I rarely fly in 2D on my 4K monitor, where things looks pretty good in the new sim. In VR however it’s been a battle to get it just right, especially in a high res headset, even with a 4090.

I tried a different approach today, switching from DLSS Quality to Performance and set TLOD to 400, lowering some other settings. I got it so I just had playable framerates over denser areas like the countryside near Rome and things did look a lot better ground textures wise. Fiddling with post processing to adjust contrast etc brought the field details and say market gardens to much the same as FS2020, just with 30-35% less framerates.

I agree that FS2024’s lighting and other effects does bring greater realism though. FS2020 can look too sharp and artificial by comparison. I just hope Asobo can tweak things so that VR gets a boost in performance going forward.

Xbox series X, what do you expect, they ballsed the last one up and this ones the same and anyone who is still supporting this shoddy work must be getting paid by them, thank God I had the foresight not to buy it and used my Xbox game pass !

Thanks for your feedback.

I have installed this sim both my pc and xbox x.
In my xbox this sim performs just fine and I’m happy for that. What just annoys me that in my pc it is not performing fine. The sim loads in about under two minutes, but then the problems start. When I select the place to start a flight it takes minutes untill I even get to press start flight and after that it takes 10 - 30 minutes to load in and press Fly now button. I get loads of bandwidht error warnings and graphics are degraded and blurry and of course photogrammetry is just melted mess and triangles. If I select pause and wait 5-10 minutes it eventually downloads the graphics and look fine, but when I move just about few hundred meters it just is mess again.
This has been going on from the launch of the sim in last year, so not a new thing from updates. I have uninstalled and installed the sim several times with and without the community folder with no help.
What puzzles me most is that both my pc and xbox are using the same router, pc with ethernet cable and xbox with wifi. I’m on fibre connection with 300 bits per sec in and out and tested it works.
So how can this be?

Something with your virus checker or firewall configuration?

Only Windows (win 11) own defender or what is it called, firewall I don’t know and what to do with it.

Maybe try some Windows diagnoses, starting with sfc/scannow in a command line prompt?
Doesn’t seem like it’s related to a problem with MSFS 2024, though.

Yes, I think that too, because it works just fine with my xbox.
That command didn’t found any problems, I just have to figure out what to do next.
Thank you for your help.

i could add the list from FS2020 which was never fully resolved but here we go:

Bugs Persisting from FS2020 to FS2024

  1. Slow Download Speeds – Users experienced prolonged download times during installation, often due to server overloads.
  2. Stuck on Loading Screens – Instances where the game would hang indefinitely on loading screens, such as the ‘Press any key’ prompt.
  3. Missing Deluxe/Premium Content – Some players reported that aircraft and airports included in the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe editions were inaccessible.
  4. Display and Texture Issues – Post-update, certain textures appeared incorrectly, such as aircraft displaying in bright pink liveries or environments rendering as multi-colored checkerboards.
  5. Visual Inconsistencies – Despite improvements, certain areas still render poorly at low altitudes, similar to issues in FS2020.
  6. Technical Glitches – Ongoing technical problems, including crashes and performance issues, have transitioned from FS2020 to FS2024.

Bugs in FS2024

  1. Server Overload at Launch – The game faced significant launch issues due to server overload, leading to long loading times and crashes.
  2. Disappearing Cursors and Assets – Players reported issues such as disappearing cursors and assets not loading properly.
  3. User Interface Inconsistencies – Products transferred from FS2020 exhibited UI issues, including missing thumbnails and misordered liveries.
  4. External Lighting Overexposure – Light sources appeared overexposed under certain conditions, affecting visual realism.
  5. Aircraft Registration Errors – Cockpit placards displayed incorrect registrations for custom liveries due to simulator limitations.
  6. Bright Displays & Lighting – Emissive cockpit textures, such as digital displays and panel lighting, appeared excessively bright, especially during dawn and dusk.
  7. Daytime Lighting Visibility – Exterior and interior lights seemed too dim during daylight hours, despite being operational.
  8. Enroute Map Flicker – The in-game enroute map experienced flickering issues due to compatibility problems with the simulator’s SDK.
  9. Disappearing Sounds – Certain sounds would suddenly disappear during flights as the simulator attempted to conserve memory.
  10. Low-Resolution Textures – Switching views sometimes resulted in brief periods where textures appeared in lower resolution before loading fully.
  11. Display Clock Inconsistencies – Aircraft clocks occasionally showed local PC time instead of the simulator’s time, causing discrepancies during time-accelerated scenarios.
  12. False TCAS Alerts – Users received incorrect Traffic Advisory alerts due to erroneous targets being displayed for the user’s aircraft.
  13. 3D Model Level of Detail (LOD) Issues – The LOD system sometimes called unexpectedly low detail levels or culled objects at short distances.
  14. Broken LOD and Texture Issues on Specific Aircraft – Aircraft such as the TBM930, Cessna Longitude, Cessna Citation, and Pilatus PC-12 exhibit severe LOD and texture problems, including low-resolution textures and delayed rendering when switching views.
  15. Sepia Mask at Night – Night lighting in FS2024 still suffers from the sepia mask issue, where distant terrain appears overly bright and washed out instead of naturally dark, reducing realism.
  16. Crash to Desktop (CTD) with Certain Liveries – Some aircraft experience CTDs when selecting specific liveries.
  17. Landing Gear Animation Desynchronization – Landing gear animations in multiplayer are not synchronized correctly between users.
  18. Light Brightness Issues – Certain aircraft lights do not illuminate at the correct brightness levels.
  19. Unresponsive Menus with Controllers – Menus sometimes become unresponsive when using a controller, requiring a restart or alternate input method.
  20. ATC Window Flickering in VR – The ATC window flickers or does not display correctly in VR mode, affecting usability.
  21. Incorrect Aircraft Registration Display – Aircraft registration displays do not update correctly when using custom liveries.
  22. Missing or Misordered Liveries from FS2020 – Products transferred from FS2020 may have missing thumbnails or misordered liveries.
  23. Overexposed Lighting Sources – Certain light sources appear overly bright under specific conditions, reducing realism.
  24. Dim Exterior and Interior Lights During Daylight – Aircraft exterior and interior lights appear too dim during daylight hours, even when turned on.
  25. Excessively Bright Emissive Cockpit Textures – Digital displays and panel lighting appear too bright, especially during dawn and dusk.
  26. Low-Resolution Textures When Switching Views – Textures temporarily appear in low resolution when switching camera views before fully loading.
  27. Enroute Map Flickering – The in-game enroute map flickers due to compatibility issues with the simulator’s SDK.
  28. 3D Model Level of Detail (LOD) Issues – Objects and aircraft sometimes load in low detail or disappear when viewed at short distances.
  29. Sudden FPS Drops in Cockpit Views – FPS drops occur suddenly when switching views inside the cockpit.
  30. Disappearing Sounds Mid-Flight – Some sounds disappear during flights as the simulator tries to optimize memory usage.
  31. Server Overload During Peak Hours – Long loading times and connectivity issues occur when servers are overloaded.
  32. Live Weather Failing to Sync – Live weather occasionally fails to sync, displaying incorrect wind and atmospheric conditions.
  33. Sudden Weather Transitions – Rapid and unrealistic weather transitions occur when switching from preset to live weather.
  34. Turbulence Physics Inconsistencies – Turbulence does not always align with real-world METAR data, causing unrealistic flight behavior.
  35. Negative mouse acceleration. Essentially, if your mouse movement falls below a certain speed, the game fails to register it properly, resulting in laggy, stuttering view movement

on a very personal note which puts everything above to shame, since i, as of now, can’t even use the 130$ software

i could go on about very ugly and repeating patterns in vegetation, clouds and water…

I dont think people care about what other people want to hear. All that post positive encouraging bs is just a facade. Honesty is key. If its good its good if its bad its bad. Just posting a facade wont fix the issues.
