When is FS24 patch #4 scheduled for?

Desperately need a hotfix for this new stuttering airports problem…

It will be a while, because they need to fix some issues like crash when ending flight and probably the most annoying one, the QNH is wrong with ATC. In fact ATC needs a complete overhaul. What surprises me, did no one in their team actually test it with a flight? The issues are so obvious.

It’s so interesting that Microsoft as a publisher has managed to successfully release games with other studios. I’m afraid that this would potentially lead to a conclusion that Asobo over promised and underdelivered on this occasion.

But what is really inexcusable is the lack of communication. Those of us who pre-ordered took a risk and have lost on that gamble.

But I really pity the kids who have asked for FS24 for xmas. Parents who have bought it in good faith and, based on the current performance, will have to deal with disappointed kids on Christmas Day.

Asobo and Microsoft know the issues by now, if not before, so should there not be comms and a further update before this time next week then they can only be playing with their reputation?!!!

Fire it up on Dec 25th and have your control bindings all figured out by Jan 15th.:joy:

Early 2025. But that’s subjective. Does that mean January or anytime in Q1

They knew about the problems before launch but didn’t mention anything since it would have affected sales.
This whole silence looks like they hid in hole somehwere and are waiting for all this to blow over.

I just don’t understand, like many of us, both why and how fs2024 was released the way it was, and how many features are lacking/ delayed.

Very off putting. And yeah many people will be disappointed at Christmas probably

It probably means the last day that could be classified as early 2025.

It’s actually simple. The deadlines weren’t determined by people that actually know how long it takes to make everything work. When the deadline was close the devs probably told their bosses about the issues. If not then they found it in testing. The launch wasn’t delayed since it’s called 2024 and to fix all the issues would take atleast to the middle of 2025. The suits who call the shots couldn’t wake that long to make money.
Now the devs are probably working hard to fix everything as soon as posible while the excrements that pushed for the release of something so broken are already on holidays.

Only to have them wiped out again on Jan 16th :joy:

I can totally relate to this topic. Prior to this last patch, my sim was running fairly well. Very very few CTD’s. After the patch, I can’t even start a flight without a CTD. I have a decent rig, 4070 ti etc etc.
The sad part is, I’m sure the vast majority of 2024 customers don’t have money laying around to purchase high end rigs. When did one have to be a computer engineer to get this thing to run. Tweak that, overclock that, delete this, download that. Shouldn’t one be able to just simply download the sim and just play / fly without having to modify and tweak a thousand things?? I’ve tried everything under the sun to no avail… beyond frustrated !

VR will never be fixed.

‘VR has its own platform’ Jorg said in the pre-launch video.

Now, you can’t even get the VR toolbar up. How can you fly without it in VR?

God I hope you’re wrong, although I doubt you are. The pace of these patches needs some major improvement, as well as quality testing… but we shouldn’t have to wait until late January or February to fix things that should be fixed.

Isn’t one of Jorg’s selling points ‘to the cloud’ is that Asobo can send out patches via the cloud?

I wonder if it will be 100% 2024 or, like it’s brethren, be a 2020 version.

This is one of the most misunderstood things.

Yes. Some things can be patched via the cloud.

For example scenery, streamed aircraft, and World and City Updates. You really shouldn’t have to manage your files and updates like you did in 2020. In many cases, they should just be patched or updated the next time you load the sim.

In a sense, many other things could be patched via the cloud. But we still have game files on our computers that need patching.

And bug fixes really need beta testing. Either internal or public. And they also need to be approved as safe and compatible by MS. So big patches are by FAR the most efficient way to fix a lot of bugs and test them.

If you just fix one bug at a time, each fix would need testers. And MS approval. It quickly becomes the LEAST efficient way to patch software. It sounds easy, and for some things it can be, but the sim isn’t meant to be patched like that.

Really though, for updating addons and scenery and whatnot, things that DO live in the cloud, it is likely going to be, and kinda already is a tremendous and time saving improvement.

yep that makes sense. I get they’re probably going to take extra time to QC everything after their disastrous launch… but such a shame that we won’t get to get 3rd party planes (PMDG, iFly, etc) into the sim for the holidays. Was really looking forward to that.

I still haven’t tried my Fenix but I have heard great things.

Also, you will notice they have pushed three patches rather quickly and one of those, patch 3 was quite large.

Asobo is capable of patching things quickly. But there is little room for QC so the risk of regressions is heightened.

That first break between the weeks of quick, early patching and the first regular System Update will feel like a LONG time. But things really will get into rhythm after that. In a SU or two, these early issues will be a thing of the past and we will find new issues to obsess over.

How do you know what has already been fixed in the dev branch?
