When you activate the drone mode, it goes crazy

Still present in 1.5.12.0.

Hmm, I just booted 1.5.12.0 for the first time and didn’t have the issue - that was with an empty Community folder, though.

Confirm that the drone camera issue is still present in 1.5.12.0.

Didn’t knew this issue was logged already. So another one: Drone spawns somewhere over the pacific when loading initial aircraft

No menu tweaking at all with mods. Only 3rd party planes. It happens also in save mode

Since the SU3 first beta update the drone camera spawns somewhere over the pacific after loading of an aircraft you never flew before. It happens with all the aircraft, 3rd party and the default ones. After that the drone mode becomes unresponsive (if bound to a controller). If you open up the Camera menu. It spawns back into the original location causing the aircraft going haywire.

If for any strange reason you press the bounded Drone button, it goes back to “middle earth”. Only when selecting the drone function from the menu it corrects itself and functions as expected.

Once you fly the same selected aircraft again, it is OK. But it is strange that this happens.

It happens only in the SU3 beta. The SU2 functions normally.

Does anybody experience the same??

Yeah, it’s reported here:

So this is not fixed in the .12 build?
I tried .12 quickly yesterday and did not have the issue (changed AC+livery), tried drone cam at gate, seemingly ok. But might be ‘luck’…

I thought so.
Nope unfortunately not fixed. It only happen after loading up a plane / livery which never loaded in beforehand.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
When using Shift + X to enter drone camera, every default and addon aircraft I’ve tried seem to move the drone camera to a spot in the middle of the ocean. Moving or resetting the camera doesn’t change the cameras position at all. Due to the camera being moved so far away from the aircraft current position it unloads everything around you and jumps you up to ~150ft and moves airport elements (terminals, cars, jetbridges, windsocks etc) up to the same altitude.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
Every aircraft.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes and yes.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every flight, independent of free flight or career.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Start a flight with any aircraft, eg C172
Go into drone camera with Shift + X
Camera appears in the middle of the ocean.
Exit drone camera again after a few seconds with Shift + X
Aircraft and simobjects spawn in the air.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

Not relevant.

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?

No

[PC Only] What GPU (Graphics Card) do you use?

RTX 3060

[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?

Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB ram.

MEDIA

Aircraft sitting on runway

Entering drone camera with Shift + X

After exiting drone camera using Shift + X again

Still happening to me on XBox series X. When first loading in, I need to go to the camera window and click showcase, then click cockpit. Once I’ve done that, it will be ok until I change aircraft

Yes, the top menu is the only workaround I have found so far. Once the bug has been primed, which is only if you have visited the “Configure” or “F” page, I don’t lknow any way of disarming it other than the top menu. I don’t think there is a simvar that shows the done camera current position, which would have been the first thing I would have looked for, and set that to match the planes GPS co-ordinates.

It is still present in the 1.5.13.0.

Unable to reproduce in 1.5.13.0 with an empty Community folder but once I enable my addons it returns - no idea which addon may be the culprit though.

Confirmed as still present in 1.5.13.0 with empty community folder.

Confirmed. I chose a plane, pressed F to Configure, and when I came back to the map screen the camera has shifted the map to 0,0.

Pressing the key bound to the drone camera spawns it over that spot. Pressing the “Showcase” button on the camera top menu fixes that.

So the issue isn’t resolved in 1.5.13.0.

This is (understandably) likely fairly low on the priority list - it is non-fatal and has a pretty easy workaround.

While I agree from a Free Flight pov, this would probably damage your aircraft significantly in a career flight.

Surprised that 1½ month after the regression was introduced, there still has been no fix.

I don’t know what is happening behind the scenes, but as clicking showcase from the toolbar camera works, it seems surprising that a shortcut to do the same thing can be so difficult to fix.

Agreed. Equally baffling that the conditions for bug are only initialized if you configure the aircraft (selecting a variant/livery) in the menus. If you don’t, then the bug doesn’t occur.

Also befuddling that that after the first time you use the Camera menu from the toolbar, using a keyboard shortcut or controller binding button doesn’t trigger the bug.
