Where has "Checking for updates" vanished

Until today the first screen with the desert picture (after copyright screen) showed “Checking for updates”.
Now there was a short grey graphic, shown for one second, now even this graphic is gone ??

Trying to update with failure downloading ?

Brief description of the issue: via the MS store, updated to 1.15.7, when restarting the game I’m now getting stuck on the Checking For Updates screen. Recently re-installed the whole game, so it’s pretty much a fresh install, ie: There is nothing in the community folder. Any tips? Thx.
