In terms of what I’ve shared re: Boeing yoke & throttles, those numbers pertain to the individual button/switch/knob/axis on the yoke or throttle quadrant.

Note: the number mappings are different for Xbox and PC, so be sure to check the correct section for your platform.
For the keyboard, it should not be referencing keys by number (other than the actual number keys 1-0). They are assigned by actual key name, such as “left shift” or “d”, etc.
Ensure you have clicked on the correct peripheral tab at the top of the Controls Options page. You want to be sure the peripheral you are wanting to assign commands to is the selected peripheral.
