I have been stuck in not being able to fly because I do not have the controls - i.e. the HOTAS FLIGHT STICK AND THROTTLE, and the RUDDER PEDAL CONTROLS FOR PC - something comparable.
I have searched many places and all the places I found were out of stock. I placed myself on a backorder alert with B&H Supply of NYC, since August 2020. Obviously, places like Amazon, or Best Buy have these items at 300% the regular price.
I do not wish to spend a lot of money on these products as my budget is extremely limited. I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone on where can I find / purchase these necessary controls for my SIM.
There is this thing called Pandemic and it meant that lots of nerds stay mostly at home with spare time because they don’t have to commute and can work whenever they need to, so they go into flight simulation and voila’ - HOTAS is sold out globally and on back order for everyone.
If i were you I’d stay on the backorder and hope for the best. I got the chance of buying an X52 instead of the X56 just before the summer and i jumped on it since i had waited for months for it to show up - and what was way before August.
yeah i picked up my hotas way back in like jan-feb. it’s weird because a month later the same kit (t16k FCS + pedals) was on sale for $60 cheaper. then they were all gone a month after that.
The pandemic certainly didn’t help, but with releases like Flight Simulator and SW Squadrons really exacerbated the gaming communities need for a joystick.
Sadly, only a fraction of these players who scrambled for a joystick are actually gonna stick around long enough to make their purchase worthwhile. Most have already gone back to other non-flight sim games because they’re bandwagoners. they buy a newly released game because everyone else is doing it.
not everyone, sure. But a healthy quantity at least
Yeah. I’m still looking for the HOTAS gear.
I remember playing flight simulator when it first came out over 20 years ago with Windows.
I also remember playing it on the MAC version in the old Apple II
I’ve been using a wireless Xbox One controller, it has worked pretty well. With that said, my Honeycomb Alpha is arriving tomorrow so it should be a new, more true to life, experience.
