Piper P100i
Dropping paratroopers is much the same profile as dropping weapons. Tactical cargo drops ( specially the low level ones ) can be pretty… exciting too. You’re just never going to be quite so hot as a CAS a/c.
Not a double post - there’s time inbetween - but having had Cobham/Draken Europe’s Falcon 200s in the area doing crazy stunts practically every day this summer, I want to fly one. I’ve no idea what extra avionics they have, mind ( they’re aggressor aircraft for training the Royal Navy, mostly ).
We really do need a classic turboprop airliner. And by “classic” I mean something from the 50s and 60s, powered by RR Darts or similar. F27, FH-227, HS748, YS-11 (I was really hoping this would be the Japanese local legend that was announced, it turned out to be MU-2 instead), An-24 (especially given Asobo’s cooperation with Antonov)…
Analog turboprop airliners were a horribly neglected species in simulators since FS2004, when the Fraser McKay’s F27 and HS748 got released. And these aircraft were the workhorses of many countries, airlines and air forces. Not some obscure prototypes. They carry a lot of history, they’re legendary in many places (but these are outside of the West and the anglosphere so obviously they don’t count /s). The F27 flights to Gilgit, HS748s in Canada, the FAU 571, you name it. I’m longing for an F27 by Just Flight.
Please, Please, Please!!! (PIaggio P.136 Royal Gull) Perhaps one of our Italian developers… hint, hint?
Lockheed L-188 Electra would be a great choice for a local legend of famous flyer. such a beautiful bird.
Perfect pairing for the F28 too!
The arrival of the freeware OV-10 Bronco, which I’ve much enjoyed, has reminded me that there’s another, similar aircraft out there which I wouldn’t mind having in my hangar.
The Advanced High Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft (AHRLAC), now known as the Paramount Mwari, hails from South Africa and is a sort of micro-Bronco - in fact, according to the Wikipedia article:
it’s actually been marketed in the USA as the Bronco II.
Performance is similar to the Bronco, but what attracts me to it is its cockpit and canopy.
It offers the same superb visibility as the Bronco, but without the canopy framing. As a VR flier, I see that and drool. I don’t suppose TrackIR/Tobii fliers would mind that either.
Sadly not, every now and then I bring up the idea in the hope JF will do one, but as yet nothing. Maybe once someone’s done a proper Dart simulation & a F27 to get the easy cash.
I also vote for the Lancair IV. In FSX, I was flying the Orbx Lancair IV-P (pressurized cabin). This is a very nice aircraft for flying high altitude routes. Sadly, Orbx has not ported it to MSFS. It would be my wish that they do so.
While I’m waiting, I’m flying the Orbx Blackwing BW635RG around the Canadian high arctic.
Yknow wanna know what I really need? People to maybe make the aircraft they want others to make
The bad news is I looked into doing computer programming stuff in college but decided not to go to college and instead am trying into to my cdl training done, meaning I am better at backing up trailers and operating heavy equipment rather than having computer skills in that department
No idea if it’s already in this huge list but I’d love for someone to make a Cessna SkyCourier.
Not realistic to expect someone with zero experience in 3D modeling, coding, etc. to just make an aircraft for MSFS in their spare time. Even if they did their first effort (or second or third) probably wouldn’t be something anyone else would want. The “downside” of the increased fidelity of aircraft in the sim compared to 20-25 years ago is that the bar to entry to hobbyists to make add-ons is Everest high in comparison. There’s a reason why we see so few freeware aircraft releases now.
I agree 100%
The speed, great looks and outstanding performance as well as the sound of two well tuned Merlin engines would make a magical experience.
This is so true. As a solo developer, it takes me 4-5 months to complete a simple airplane. I like this thread to see the oddball planes and get ideas for future projects. But many of these are just too big and complex to really consider. Plus it has to be something I am interested in flying considering that I’ll be flying hundreds of hours.
That said, if anyone has the motivation and dedication to try to create their favorite plane, I am happy to help by sharing assets like instruments and avionics or code solutions. I can’t do the work for anyone, but there is a very helpful community that can point people in the right direction.
But all that effort pays off in the end.
Your Cessna 170B Backcountry is excellent !
Thanks
This is my latest project which is almost done, so I might as well show it here. The Supermarine S.5 seaplane. This will be freeware and include the 1927 Schneider Trophy race course in Venice with a seaplane base so you have a place to start from.
I enjoy learning about the history and details of these planes and to be able to fly it and connect with that era of flight is something special. That’s what I like to share with everyone else. When I set out to make a flight model, I don’t know how it will turn out. It’s based on the geometry of the airframe and the published specs. But these engineers knew what they were doing and it’s nice to see that come through in a modern flight sim.
I’d love to see SWS do a proper Cessna Caravan. 208/208B/Cargomaster/EX. Opening doors, visible cargo/pax, all the bells and whistles like they did in the Kodiak.
I own the Blacksquare analog mod, but I feel it’s a temporary solution to scratch the itch. It feels weird to have an analog interior with the EX exterior.
