Been looking at these two to complement my ageing BN-2 Islander. Also looked at the FSR-500 but it’s not in widespread commuter airline use, so not much good to me.
Which is better for realism, accuracy and general features?
Cheers.

I’m a huge fan of the P2012. Multiple mission configurations, great audio, pretty decent cruising speed, and a docile and pleasant flight model. You’re comparing a single turboprop to a twin piston so it’s a bit apples to oranges, but the P2012 is closer to a “refreshed” version of the BN2 than the PC-12 is. This isn’t to knock the PC-12 at all, it’s a great plane. But for the “island hopper” mission package I prefer the P2012.
Not to mention I live in New England and Cape Air is one of my favorite airlines to fly for in the sim…
I like how you think. I’ve bought neither of those, and after reading about them a bit I’m not rushing out to get them.
For commuter airline use I can’t think of anything better.
To be honest I’ve been chapped by waiting on a decent TP twin, and the MU I wish I could delete the uninstalled file showing up in CM. JayDee’s 350i FM mod and the Husk G1000 update for it ain’t half bad IMHO. Monster MFD too. Easy on the frames and the price is right. Flies like a plane now.
I have both and strongly prefer the PC-12. Flight model isn’t perfect but it’s pretty good with the latest update and better than the P2012. Cockpit looks better. P2012 cockpit sounds are very drone-y unless you put on headphone simulation. It also has some display problems with the G1000 showing wrong power output, fuel flow.
Plus the PC-12 is pressurized so it can get you over weather that the P2012 can’t (at least not with passengers aboard).
These are both nice but very different. If you are looking for something closer to the Islander then the P2012 is clearly the one but in terms of an overall package the PC-12 takes it for me. It is very nice and about to get a whole lot better with an imminent update.
Well with the Twotter coming in 2024, may just stick to being a BN2 pilot in the islands. Show up in flip flops on a Vespa for work. Keep my loafers and too-long tie on the aircraft.
As it stands both the aircraft mentioned here are better than both the Islander and the Twotter.
Don’t forget we are getting a Turbine powered Bn2 hopefully by the end of this month. That should make for some great flights.
I find myself flying the Islander more than the PC12 and 2012 but all 3 are very enjoyable. Islander is just so quick to get started and into the air.
The BN2 is a hero for short hops. I will periodically make 4-5 runs between Barth 10 and Saba 12, park and shut down between them, break out the steps, etc. Build a basic flight plan and just invert it to the first proper shared mid-route waypoint. It’s just such a good solid aircraft to itself as it is. Add the Twotter back and you can have a Winair career between the two.
There’s another PC coming in 2024, so no rush for me on that. Personally, I’d rather have a Skycourier added in the mix between the two than a TP Islander.
I have both. I enjoy the P2012 more, which comes down to flight model. I just don’t enjoy handflying the PC-12.
I think on all points they are quite similar. Both good immersion factors like visible pax etc. Both cargo version with visible cargo. Sounds on the PC-12 are a bit better. Obviously the PC-12 is a turbuprop so easier to get around mountains, but then again I like the challenge on the P2012 in mountainous areas.
But the flight model… I’m just dissapointed in the PC-12. Without the yaw damper it feels so, so weird. I’m not a real pilot of course, all I know is it flies absolutely different from all other virtual planes I have. I just don’t like it. That’s why I bought the P2012 in the first place.
Interesting. The PC-12 is one of my top 3 aircraft when it comes to hand-flying.
Yep me too. Really nice.
