I personally don’t have a camera panning command assigned to my joystick (I use a combination of a Tobii Eye Tracker and mouse right click/drag to look around), and I rarely, if ever, see the white dot. I can sometimes purposely make the dot appear for a split second if I follow very specific repro steps, but it’s not something that ever interferes with my flying or affects my immersion.
So while this isn’t a permanent “fix” to the underlying issue, it is a possible workaround that people experiencing the white dot bug can try to see if it alleviates the problem for them.
I wonder if you could temporarily try adding a panning command to your joystick (presuming it has hat switches)? If you then press the left mouse button by, for example, clicking on the landing light switch and then quickly (that is while standard mouse cursor is still visible) pan using the hat you would see the white dot if the issue is universal…
Still seeing the white dot in SU 13 Beta… I know they noted that it’ll come back in a certain scenario.
Beginning of the flight it wasn’t visible but after about 5 minutes of flying it came back.
In my opinion the only way to make everyone happy is to give an option to disable the white dot altogether. People have been requesting it for 2 years.
Before the XBox release (SU4), we only had one controls style, then an option came out, so now it would be reasonable to have it like this in the accessibility tab:
Control style: LOCK: show the white dot to allow the handling of switches with the XBox controller
Control style: LEGACY: don’t show the white dot and use the right thumbstick / hat switch just to rotate the view
The white squares around the screens then, are totally useless and should be removed. Yet, they are still there in SU13 beta (just tested the A310).
I really don’t understand why this is so complicated to do, it was already implemented in SU4 more than 2 years ago.
I think it would have been more helpful if the SU13 Beta notes had explained what certain scenario the white dot would still be present in rather than just saying we’ve mostly fixed it, but haven’t in certain scenario(s) with no detail.
That would perhaps help the customers understand that it’s still a known issue in situation X and reduce some of the forum traffic a bit.
Like others, I don’t know why they cannot just reverse out whatever code they introduced in the update that introduced the problem.
I’m on Xbox and I get the white dot only after using the hat switch on my HOTAS 1 to pan views and a quick mouse wiggle makes it go away.
I am not in the beta BTW, I am using the current GA release
Same here. If if pan view with joystick/yoke while mouse pointer is visible I get the white dot. Rudder pedals also cause it to appear after using mouse
This sounds easy, but the process of the white dot relates to game and VR controllers. A mouse seems to be secondary, because this is an XBOX game that can be used on a PC.
Removing the dot takes away the basics of how MSFS allows for cockpit adjustments with a pointer to adjust buttons and knobs.
Everyone seems to be missing why the update changed things. It is a reset for how MSFS processes the input for changing cockpit buttons.
I don’t know about XBOX, but on PC I can create the white dot and make the mouse unusable by turning on VR controller inputs. I can stop it by unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in.
This will go on endlessly, as Asobo can’t take away the underlying functionality, and everyone seems to deny that the solution is to adjust the settings to limit controller input and just unplug the mouse and plug it back in to reset the priority.
If unplugging the mouse doesn’t work, then a different mouse. Gaming mice often have software with them and as we know, MSFS doesn’t play nicely with anything.
I can create the white dot on demand with a controller. If I press, and hold the yoke hat switch button down while simultaneously moving my mouse around with right click hold, the white dot will appear. I’ve had less luck getting it to to stay, but usually a combination of yoke hat, and mouse will get it to disappear as well.
There is no point directing your frustration at me or being personal on this, as we are all frustrated with MSFS and the anger should be directed at them.
I don’t use XBOX and my comment wasn’t directed at XBOX users. I understand that the white dot on XBOX is probably worse because it is the system that it was supposed to work on, and it doesn’t even do that properly.
My point was that the key to this may be how the updates break or resets the workarounds, which indicates a sort of default setting that is returned to.
Your proposal is a good idea, however for PC it could be a USB assignment issue as some get it from their flight controllers or use of different functions. My experience, as I don’t use the hat to look around, is purely the game or VR controller input issue. Others have it from content in the Community folder, although I suspect that deleting and replacing it indicates that it isn’t the content but again some sort of reset.
To have the same problem with so many factors leading to it indicates a core issue and not as simple as changing modes. I tried the ‘no white dot’ program, and it didn’t work for me, but it would be interesting to get the details on how it is done to find the root of the problem and maybe prove all of us wrong on what the actual issue is.
My intent wasn’t to ignore or have a go at you, it is directed at the issue and my ongoing frustration.
It worked 100% white dot free until SU5, mid 2021. No “USB assignment” or other issues: XBox controllers right sticks and joysticks hat switches worked perfectly for view rotation without white dot or white squares.
I don’t believe it’s a “complicated problem” when we had it that way for one year, unless Asobo explains exactly why they are not giving us this option now.
The external tool works for me BTW.
The game has been unusable for at least 2 months months now.
Anyone using the POV hat and mouse will get the dot and while display borders.
Funny how the YouTubers hide this issue so not to upset MS or Asobo. They just go on how great everything is.
Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
Yes
Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
Simply start a flight, move or pan the camera or click the middle mouse button and it will reproduce. This is also utilizing SU13 Beta. Unable to fly properly because of this bug. This bug only appears for me under DX 12, does not appear in DX 11. Please fix it for DX 12.

I use TrackIR. Jump in the cockpit, and hover with the mouse over an interactive area, like in the screenshot the Fuel Pump in the DA20. The white dot starts blinking with the movement of the mouse. In this way I am not able to toggle the fuel pump because the white dot seems to interfere with the clicking behaviour. Because of this I am also not able to increase or decrease the magneto’s during engine run up with the mouse. I use Logi MX keys keyboard, and Logi MX Master 2S mouse, MS SideWinder FFB2 joystick, and TrackIR. Disabling TrackIR from the camera menu doesn’t solve the issue.

I think I found a fix. Bind a key for ‘Toggle Cokpit Freelook’ and the white dot appears and then disappears for me. I use a HOTAS, and Xbox controller and this is how I found a workaround.
