I Think I may have found a fix for this problem!!!
I use a HOTAS and an Xbox controlller and to fix my white dot I have bound a key to ‘Toggle Cockpit Freelook’. And also ‘Toggle Cockpit Freelook (Hold)’. This is also bound to the gun trigger of my joystick.
I press it once and the white dot appears instead of my mouse cursor. I press it twice and the white dot disappears and I can use my mouse cursor again like normal.
Side Note: since I use an Xbox controller when the white dot appears for me I can easily use that to look at switches and click them on and off with my setup. But this only works cold and dark on the ground. Whilst flying I always use the mouse for speed and accuracy. Using the gun trigger on my joystick switches between my head movement and mouse cursor. Using the Xbox controller only switches between white dot and head movement. If that makes sense to anyone out there. Buuuut it does work for me…
The white dot doesn’t appear when you toggle cockpit freelook because it hides/disables the mouse cursor. When there is no cursor there is no white dot. It is not a fix although because many of us is using the mouse to click on things and toggling freelook makes the mouse to move camera while unable to click things.

Well I use headtracking and a mouse and controller with the HOTAS and it works fine for me. On my trigger of my joystick I have bound the same key and this switches between my headtracking and mouse movement just fine. Maybe just give it a try and mess with it a bit. It does work.
To note I do have bound both ToggleCockpit Freelook and ToggleCockpit Freelook (Hold)
I tried it which is why I wrote a reply. It makes the mouse move the camera instead of the mouse pointer which is why it looks like it fixes the white dot problem, which mostly comes up when there is a visible mouse pointer.

I FOUND A 100% REPRO (for me)! While in the cockpit, hover with the mouse over a button, or whatever interactive area. Now move the joystick just slightly (just 1 mm) right and then left, or vice versa. Voila! The dot appears! Can others (maybe @Hester40MT) test this too and confirm the same behaviour?

On PC with X52Pro + Pedals, not in beta, getting the white dot of interaction-blocking, disallowing use of any cockpit switch or dial (such as the altitude knob!!!) with the mouse. Simulator now basically just waste of disk space as it is completely unflyable on my pc.

I’m a PC user without an Xbox controller just mouse/keyboard/joystick/throttles and the white dot issue plagues me from time to time also. It’s like it’s fighting with the mouse cursor. Different things may be bring this on for different people but I’ve come to discover this issue is with input jitter from either the joystick or the throttles I use. I just softly adjust one of the throttles or joystick axis such rudder and the issues usually resolves itself.
As mentioned a few posts back the issue is the result of interaction between the mouse and the hat switches and mini sticks on your HOTAS. I have a mini stick on my X56 that I use to look around in and out of the cockpit. I found that as long as I don’t use a hat switch or mini stick while the mouse cursor is showing on my screen and as long as I don’t use the mouse too soon after using a hat switch or mini stick I don’t get any white dots and mouse issues. Every once in awhile I forget to follow the rules and get the white dot. I’ve been using this practice for the last two days and have had great results.

I uninstalled and reinstalled my mouse driver on Windows. After that white dot problem gone for at least the last few days. Dont know if it is just a coincidence or short moment of luck but this was the recommendation I got from Zendesk support and so far so good. Anyone else had this experience?
I reinstalled my OS today just because it was already old enough anyway. Re-ran the sim and the white dot is still present, even with my community folder removed. This is so annoying.
Hey guys, I just noticed with more testing that the white dot is not present under DirectX 11… if I enable DX12 which is what I’m mainly using for performance, the white dot returns! Asobo/MS, can we please get it fixed for DirectX 12 as well? Thanks.
It looks like this white dot issue is getting some attention from their latest release notes (9th August 2023)

It’s been known, however it’s only a partial fix. We need a full fix in both DX11/DX12.
From my perspective, it’s “anything that changes view direction”, not only your hat switches. Which means that those of us using the Tobii eyetracker are going to have an insanely bad day as … everything changes viewin direction. Even breathing.
I have a Tobii 5, and it does not cause the white dot to appear, ever.

I doubt that. I already tried unplugging devices and even reinstalling the OS to clear out any input device drivers. The only difference was with which DirectX version is being used, at least on my system. I clicked around at everything in DX11 and did the usual things that cause it to appear in DX12 but nothing came up at all.
DX11 = No Dot
DX12 = Dot present
It could be DX12 but even if it is I will not be going back to 11. My computer runs MSFS so much better under DX12 it’s incredible. No more stutters or CTDs, my FPS are set to 30 and it never goes below that. I can work around the dot.
I highly doubdt that DX11/12 theory, as I haven’t been using DX12 since before January 2023 (after an upgrade to the nVidia drivers left DX12 in MSFS a fast way to return to desktop unsatisfied)…
I use DX12 all the time, and never see it in normal operation. I can get it to appear, but I have to do a combination of things I never do, as I have no reason to. Even then it only appears for a second or so before disappearing.
