Why a racing car?

Two of my favorite Indy Car races to watch (when I did) were Cleveland Lakefront Airport and Edmonton Airport, two temporary courses that were quite flat.

Adjacent the Mojave Spaceport, there is a large race/test track. Also in that neighborhood is the Honda Proving Grounds, and Willow Springs Raceway. All are connected with flat-enough roads I suspect there would be no problem. I did notice there is a flying Citroen in the marketplace…anybody try that?

Yes, another April fools gimmick. Free from Redwing but available to purchase on MP.

I thought this was common sense?
Does OP not realize we are enjoying a sim world created by the same developers who produced The Crew 1 & 2 titles? Cars boats and trains fit right into MSFS and we should be be thankful for such a detailed sim world.

Where one can really drive from LA to Vegas on a somewhat accurate rendition of real highway routes, and enjoy the Vegas strip scenery.

Where one can drive a speed boat through the Venice Grand Canal.

Most people don’t appreciate how good this sim is for developing addons. You have to hand it to Microsoft for not only reviving a beloved sim but also keeping it easy to develop for.

I welcome all manner of vehicles. I was skeptical about cars and boats at first but I was testing suspension on a aircraft I was working on and thought that it was quite fun to romp around the terrain.

I made this buggy to explore the idea more. And you know, it was more fun that I realized. The close-up terrain is not so bad if you turn off photogrammetry. Roads are in the same places and dirt roads are easy to see visually and in the height map.

You can’t drive everywhere because bridges are rarely solid. And you can encounter a seam in the tiles that can throw you off. But a racetrack that has been modeled to be smooth could work.

I would also like trains.

The beauty (and power) of simulation environment means you can model different things… even a car I guess. As to why, because they could I suppose… curiosity, maybe to get a better understanding of ground roll dynamics

it doesnt of course neither does any other nonsense in the market place but I understand that there are a lot of developers who are waiting to have their actual planes added to the Market Place. I mentioned that this was a missed opportunity to add something functional to this Flight Simulator. The clue is in the name. But of course itv doesnt spoil my fun in flying. how could it .

now if they can link the bing terrain maps with forza, now your talking Forza world

Here’s one thing I wish Racing and Moto sims took from flight simulator… the button pushes! I love how many buttons operate, doors/windows open, and the ability to manipulate the cockpit/flight deck in our MSFS.

Racing sims rarely (some have) let you use headlights, blinkers, roll your windows down. Push the ignition or turn the key! Those little quality of life items that help the sim come alive.

Did someone say motorcycles?
We have them as well!

Fixed it for you!

I love driving around MSFS in cars and exploring. I also would love to see trains

Where’s the bike from?

if i could get my steering wheel to work on the sim for vehicle’s , i would try them. there look plenty of fun valley roads and mountain passes

What axis do the vehicles use for steering? Rudder? If so, why not just map your steering wheel to rudder (and your gas and brake pedals to the throttle and brakes, respectively) for those “aircraft”?

And as I have said in other threads: I would actually love it if train, boat, trucking, farming, etc. simulations were linked into the same simulated world. It would add so much life to the sim.

My buggy uses rudder for steering. I tried to remap the controls in code but that isn’t fast enough so the best way is to make a controller profile for cars.

It works good with a twisty joystick but a yoke and pedals needs a custom config.

Try driving around LFPB Le Bourget. I would need a Unimog. I have long given up trying to taxi an aircraft around it.

What might be useful to more than a few users might be a “Follow me” car for when the brain fades. Something festooned with flashing orange lights that you could whistle up to get you either back to the stand or maybe even to the runway hold point. With the lacklustre MSFS external lights that we have (even with Newlight) there would be a fair number of takers I think.

Msfs 2020 wont detect my logitech 923😢

GSX provides a very useful follow me car.

Try Spad.next, if you don’t mind spending a few bucks? It might see it on behalf of MSFS?
