Why Boeing 747 has no Liveries but generic brands only?
All default aircraft do not have anything but generic liveries.
This is due to licensing issues by the various airlines.
MSFS does not have the right to use airlines’ paint schemes, as it is their trademark
There are a few exceptions I believe.
I think there is a United livery available for the Airbus A320.
Check the Market Place in msfs, I believe a livery pack was just released for the 747. Very reasonable priced.
as mentioned here its a licensing issue… a few airlines have worked with Microsoft to bring their liveries to MSFS … The KLM 787 for example. A lot of airlines are quite sensitive to having their identity used in sims because of the recreation of tragedies on YT…or other issues. but you can find many liveries online if you have the pc version. I noted a 747 livery pack in the marketplace Lufthansa and British Airways ( although BA never acquired the 747-800 but operated a 747-8 Freighter from Atlas Air in the speedbird livery) plus American and Alitalia. ???. sort of wished they had a Qantas to celebrate the wu8 update or perhaps Korean or Cathay Pacific because they actually did operate the type
Thanks I just saw they added some end of February 2022 on the Marketplace
If it is such a licensing issue for Giant MicroSoft, how do all these fly by night or small sim developers get to create a quick livery scheme and sell it ?
yeah I agree idk how all the other sims have it and its paid for as well and yet they have hundreds of liveries available such as infinite flight, real flight sim other mobile Aerofly, and a lot of other sims even on other platforms…I dont get it
Well, maybe these small dev’s “Don’t” bother to consider licensing or copyright, they just paint it and sell it. I wish they had a standard external view library of planes and livery, so we see planes as the sim pilot sees it. I sometimes hear a fighter jet go by but see a little Cessna screaming over the airport… so annoying for a flight sim.
because they are small sim developers. Just as Delta Airlines has to pay Microsoft for its software… the airlines have given up trying to prevent their liveries appearing in sims. American actually tried to prevent their logo and livery appearing in a version of flight simulator years ago. Now they dont bother … but Microsoft cant go ahead and put real airlines logos in their product without permission of the owners. They worked with KLM to bring the 787 livery to MSFS.
