When I create my own IFR plan in career, it always gets cancelled halfway through my flight. I’m not a pilot, but I don’t think this is a real-world thing. What is going on?

The Career Module cannot currently handle an end-to-end IFR flight. So it reverts you to VFR regardless of the weather conditions.

Ugh. So the more I read, the more I gather that career is pretty bugged. That’s disappointing.
Career had a rocky start and it’s still in need of a lot of work. This is why I’ve moved to VA external programs like JetCard. A lot more immersive, albeit it doesn’t trigger the animations like pax boarding etc. But the selection and logic of flight charters is a lot more realistic.
This isn’t explicitly true - Career will handle a full IFR flight but only if the destination airport is towered. Unfortunately, many/most of the airports you’re sent to prior to reaching the airliner level of Career will be untowered, so it cancels IFR at the point it would usually hand you over to approach.

Doing career mode you often may wish to be in vfr since ifr rarely starts the descent from TOD in time.
Make sure you are around 100NM from IAF to force ATC to offer a realistic descent. Check that you don’t have too many waypoints - ATC can’t handle too many - so it doesn’t bomb your mission.
Many that are there might be the LAT and Long of one miles away so check those too.
Yeah, even 2020 was a constant ■■■■■■■ match with ATC over fflight level. Kinda thought 24 would get us past that.
I suppose it’s time for me to actually learn the real way to make a VFR approach. I’ve always relied on IFR for literally decades in sims because it’s so hard to look around.
