It has become clearly apparent that users in the UK are essentially unable to load the game and have been so since this morning. By contrast, it seems that users in North America CAN load the game, as a quick scan of the forum suggests.
This has been shown definitively by a number of users (not just one, and including myself) using VPN servers in North America for their internet access and suddently the game loading fine first time, while not doing so results no ability to access it. It doesn’t seem to matter which US server or UK server I hoose; I can access with any of the US ones and I cannot access with any of the UK ones, or my own native UK ISP. Many other users are reporting the same thing.
I could suggest various nefarious reasons why this might be so, but I will first invite MS or Asobo to comment on this pretty scandalous situation. Is it intentional? Is it being investigated? Is it known? Is it part of demand management? Everyone has paid for the game so I think we’re entitled to know why some geographical areas seem to be blocked from it.

Could it be that different countries access different servers to obtain the data and the USA and Canada servers have been tuned, and others not. Or it be that there are not so many users accessing the USA and Canada servers at this time.
The bottom line being that the problem needs to get fixed worldwide.
I live in the UK and have the exact same issue I am having to use my VPN connected through Norway to be able to connect to the sim. What I don’t get is I participated in the Alpha and over the weekend the experience was in a different league. I was so excited for MSFS2024 and based on what I saw in the Alpha it was a real improvement, although I did miss not being able to use my Pimax Crystal in VR. I just don’t get why what we have is such a step back from even the alpha. My load times for the alpha were around 20 seconds compared to around 2 minutes for 2020 and now my load time for 2024 full release is around 4 to 5 minutes. I also noticed in the alpha the lighting look fantastic, yet the taxi aprons in MSFS2024 full release are visible from 30 miles away.
I seem to remember a livestream with Jorg and co where they mentioned MSFS2020 was affected by a strange CDN issue in some regions that they hadn’t figured out - not sure whether that’s related or not.
Switching to a VPN in the USA worked first time for me, after a day of trying in the UK - clearly something fishy going on…
Well im glad its not just me. UK also. This afternoon I was able to get to the customization screen before it froze. Tried to do a re-install and now im back to being stuck at 97%. So far, 5 hours play time without ever seeing a plane.
I got in for a short while this afternoon, then it started slowing up with the spinny thing rapidly revolving when trying to load in at a gate. then the dots disappeared so you could’nt even pick a spot at an airport. and this is on a 1gb fttp , god knows how anyone is getting on with less. oh and it is speed tested at 921mbps. Shambles for a second night.
■■■■ this just gets worse! I managed to make it past the customization screen by not selecting a character. Great! Picked the Dreamlifter to fly to test it out, went to fly from Gatwick, my whole PC froze and I had to restart it just to get it to respond again even after a CTD… Very close to getting my £130 back.
Ive been playing for the first time since launch. Its rubbish.
FPS is lousy. Graphics no better, and perhaps worst. Loads of horrible bugs, and rubbish VR performance. And i am on a top of the line rig, and 1GB connection.
Gutted. But i did finally get on, just to see for myself how lame it really is.
If it is not fixed by the end of Sunday night, I am getting my refund. I currently have 5hrs on Steam without even getting into a proper game. They best honour refunds.
Not just the UK - while I’m not stuck on the 97% mark it’s currently not possible to load into a flight also in Germany. Basically the sim will stall on loading the lower map levels with higher detail and the aircraft.
I think that some cluster has to be restarted here to which the western/northern part of Europe connects, or at least some server cashes have to refresh.
