I just got on 2024, and was excited to do one of the new bush trips, or one of the original ones from 2020 or the world updates. Only to find bush trips have been totally removed completely.
That was ALL I did. In the 4 years of posts, that will be all you find me talking about doing. In the “what are you going to do first” threads, I talked about which bush trip I was going to do first. I thought it was said absolutely nothing was being removed that was in 2020, only things added. You removed the only content that I did in 2020….

I can see I am the only one who really cares about the removal of bush trips. Its a pity. Of all the 2020 modes that would have benefitted the most from the enhancements in 2024, it would have been bush trips.
For 2028, please consider having bush trips as part of the sim.
I’m sure the rationale is that people can setup their own flight plans and explore. The thing with bush trips is, you are exploring in places you don’t know. Someone who knows better has setup a scenic route that you just wouldn’t know about. The instructions in the bush trip make you constantly look at the ground for the markings you need. For the virtual tourist, this is the way to explore in flight simulator.
I remember Mabel saying virtually all addons would work except missions and scenery with their own biomes. So now that I have seen it myself, I presume that means even third party bush trips will not work in 2024.
Since this was the mode I did exclusively, and it seems I am the only one that cares about it, I’m going to have to stick with 2020. Bite sized career missions lasting 10 minutes in new areas or doing photography missions for specific landmarks is not how you explore the world. You don’t get a feeling that you have been to the place you were, you only get a sense of task accomplishment. I want exploration, not quick 10 minute glimpses at places. Unfortunately for virtual tourists, you did “gamify” the simulator.

You’re not the only one who cares. I too was looking forward to doing them. I guess we can create a .pln file, import and fly it. We just won’t get the record on accomplishment. Really strange that they aren’t there.

everyone is busy trying to log in to the new sim, then the ability to check the content in the new sim. iam too was hoping all activities from 2020 transfer over to 2024, but since there is a career mode, this decision is up to the dev themselves, to maintain a focused line in development in each release. but as dragonrider58 mentioned, if really there is a way or another to experience past activities without the need to keep msfs 2020 installed in order to do so, it will be very nice.
maybe if there was a good demand and requests, they will consider bringing 2020 activities to 2024.

No bush trips and no missions outside career mode…
Most people can’t even load the sim, let along look at features or even play. There are much bigger problems right now.
And do you think any of the support people working on the server issues are going to be stopping to read the forums? No. This is feed back that will be seen many days from now by Asobo and Microsoft. My post is not in any way distracting from getting the servers working, and I certainly can file my feedback without having to wait until everything is stable.

One of the first things I looked for too. I wanted to do the Breckenridge to Mariposa-Yosemite again in 2024 since it was pretty much the first one I did in 2020. Really sucks that they didn’t include these.

I’m sure we can all look forward to VA Systems Bush Trips releasing weekly now.

In 2024? No. There is no such thing as a bush trip now. Reno and Red Bull have sections that are locked, but you see no section for Bush Trips. Mabel said in the summer that the majority of addons will come to 2024 except scenery that has biomes and missions.
So no, once the Marketplace comes up for 2024, there will be no VA Systems entries, because they all fall in as bush trips addons. Great for the 2024 users. But now that I am stuck in 2020, and with developers switching to 2024 exclusive, all I am soon going to see each week in the Marketplace are VA Systems entries.
I feel like I’ve been duped! With all of the chat around graphics & engine performance, I didn’t notice the lack of comments regarding CONTENT. I fly on a regular basis every week, and 95% of that time is on bush trips.
I agree with all of the other posters here regarding why bush trips are so appreciated, and I suspect that once users have finally succeeded in logging in, more will have a rude awakening and question their purchase of this title.

The thing that kills me is Mabel said that bush trips wouldn’t come into 2024 in FSExpo. However she said “missions”, which was the old FSX term. So I spent weeks trying to get confirmation on the forum here or in a Q&A that this was indeed the case. Everyone told me no, I’m crazy, I misinterpreted what Mabel said. Finally the Q&A, Jorg said and has repeated this “We have absolutely not removed a single mode or thing from 2020. All we did was add”. With the community telling me I was crazy, and with Jorg’s assurance, I finally said “Ok, I misinterpreted what was said”.
So now I find out I was right. They should have been up front and admitted Bush Trips were being removed, because I specifically went on a campaign trying to get confirmation on whether bush trips were included or not. So now I paid $140 with taxes for software I am not going to use, when that all could have been easily avoided by being upfront with their removal.

I was looking for them this morning and it’s really a shame they took them down.
Also, the content migration process should be filtered to remove addons which just wont work.
All of FS Academy’s stuff shows up in My Library (Voyager, Commander, IFR, VFR, Navigator, Jetliner). They do not show up in the Custom Content section because FS 2024 does not support bush trips. They should not port over and be in My Library.
Wait what? They are gone?
They were my favorite feature for each world update.

Agree with this and needs more visibility. Bush trips were my favorite thing about 2020. I think there’s even a bush pilot qualification in career mode, but I don’t see that listed as a specialization.

If they were present FS2020 i’d imagine they will make a return in 2024.
Mabel said in the FXExpo Marketplace presentation the only addons that would not come over is scenery with biomes and missions (old FSX name for bush trips). There is no section on Activities for Bush Trips. There is still Landing Challenges and Discovery. There is no Bush Trips section. The FS Academy addons are all in My Library and being streamed to my FS 2024 install now, but they do not appear in Custom Content. Bush Trips have been removed and replaced with missions under the Tourist category. The difference there is, Career missions focus on you taking “passengers” and flying them to landmarks. Bush Trips are YOU exploring. They are two separate activities with two very separate goals.
Since they were removed and not designed for, they would have to be a new feature for 2024. With all the current issues and other features which users will ask for, the priority of this work would probably put it a year or two before we see the return.
