Wifi is fine, it’s just most people have a trash setup. Source: Supporting a few hundred home users. Get yourself a decent wifi like Ubiquiti and roll your own firewall like ipfire, and connect with your modem in pass through setup. I get faster data rates then my plan is supposed to provide. Most consumer wifi stuff is garbage. And the hardware provided by your ISP is sourced from the lowest bidder. When in doubt just use ethernet.

Absolutely, in many rural areas, especially. My grandma is 93 and lives in the middle of nowhere Ohio. The download speed she has is about 50kb/sec. It takes all day to download an email.
Jeez… Now that most of the ‘things’ are online driven like clouds, that must be a nightmare.
I will never complain again when my download speed goes from 1Gbps to 600Mbps
