Monitoring the beta threads, it seems to have a fair amount of issues. It’s conceivable they delayed the release to address these, as many seem significant.
I agree that we should be thankful that MSAsobo didn’t release flawed code, but before we go throwing a parade, keep in mind that we don’t know what specific flaws made them come to this conclusion.
As I read through this thread and others, I’ve seen numerous reports of issues, and the prevailing theme seems to be “thanks for delaying the implementation until my issue is fixed.” Keep in mind that your specific issue may not even be addressed with this delay, much less fixed. That doesn’t make me appreciate their delay any less, but that’s simply the reality of the situation.
Yes, there will no doubt be sim updates, world updates and content updates just like there is with the current sim.
It won’t be a finished product. Most sims nowadays (MSFS, XP, DCS etc) seem to be in perpetual beta or improvement. I think that’s a good thing actually as long as updates don’t take us on a backward step.
You seem sure that there won’t be a public beta. Maybe not. I don’t know. A paid early access or paid early beta could be a thing though. That’s done quite frequently now. Look at XP12 for example or even FS20 which some have argued itself was a beta at launch.
I know. Since they promised it will be fixed with SU15, I was awaiting it only for that reason.
They can delay SU15 by another two months - or six. But I request to fix that windowed launch issue NOW.
Thank you.
The window launch issue will be resolved for all players when SU15 launches. You may work around this bug by simply clicking ALT + ENTER when you reach the main menu to return to full screen.
Thanks
The MSFS Team
I read what my brain wanted to read: Is released today. Hmpt.
Well … I’ve read more than a couple of posts speculating that this isn’t 100% yet so maybe this could be part of the reason for the hold up.
I don’t know and personally couldn’t say. But who knows? Maybe?
I know of no software that is 100% right on release. Certainly, in my other life, music production software isn’t. Hotfixes come thick and fast as issues the beta program didn’t identify are found by the wider public user base. Therefore, a decision has to be made by the program management and I can tell you from my own experience that isn’t as easy as it might look.
I would hope that a proper 21st century save game facility is part of any hotfix. I doubt it somehow.
I feel like they did the right thing if this was really as bad as everyone was saying now they she focus all their attention on it and get it right. I dont mind a delay as long as they get it right. We dont need a delay and then theybrelease andnthen they have to do a hotfix ■■■ that.
Fixing the constant CTD of the A310 should be an absolute no brainer for this update. Failure to fix it after so long and so much feedback will detract enormously from the developers’ credibility. As always, you know I’m right.
FYI, the March 14th Development Update has a couple of “Active Development” slides at the start that shows what is being worked on in SU15. If an item is not on the slides, it is unlikely to be included in the update when it is released (IMO).
I can’t understand why there wasn’t. Microsoft did or does open beta with the Halo series. It makes the product 100 times better at launch.
Yes, not disagreeing
