But isn’t that the pattern. 15 tries to fix 14, etc, etc.
I hope SU 15 comes out before MSFS2024. There’s only 9 more months left in this year.
True, that’s why I appreciate that they, maybe, don’t just repeat mistakes from previous SUs. We will see…
better to do it right than do it fast.
appreciate them making the announcement so folks can get use out of tomorrow for other stuff
Agreed. This is the right decision.
Just wanted to say, in behalf of gamers all over the world, not just flightsim fans:
THANK YOU, for making the choice of postponement over a buggy release.
That decision shows much welcome maturity, with an engineer’s commitment for quality over a business exec’s obsession for schedules.
I really just wanted to put this out loud, well, in writing. Speaking as a gamer for gamers everywhere: That’s the Right Choice
We respect and applaud your resolve, knowing it is not easy to make such calls in a modern corporate environment. It is, nevertheless, the right thing to do.
Let this stand as an example to the rest of the gaming industry, of how we players, really feel about “waiting a little bit more for something truly better”, that is:
We heartily appreciate it.
Cheers
FYI, in the last Developer Stream, at the beginning of the SU15 section (@ 37:38 minutes), Jorg Neumann did say “…we’re not going to put something out that’s not good…”.
And the team did not, which, IMO, shows they are serious about quality. (Not to be confused with perfection, which IMO is an unattainable goal, as that would mean it would be all things to all people).
A good decision by the MSFS team to hold the release of SU 15, if it’s not ready yet. People that are impatient and who really want the features of SU 15, can jump into the beta now.
Meanwhile, those that want stability and less bugs, are more than happy to stay on SU 14 in the meantime. This is how every Sim Update should be handled. Bravo Asobo and MSFS team, bravo!
Delaying System Updates is always good.
But i don’t like postponing already delayed aircraft in order not to get into conflicts with SUs. We did not get many Jets since the last Su.
Despite that…thank you Asobo.
Meanwhile, outside the streams dreamworld:
I think they are far from being serious. I mean, after 3 years and 14 SUs is it really serious to have a SW that still crashes? Well, I don´t think so. This gives us an idea of how quality is understood by this studio as one the very basic steps required to perform a quality check is that you are able to run the SW.
Cheers
The launch date of SU15 has been moved forward.
That careful consideration is quite thoughtful & agreed upon.
However, please fix the issue now of the Content Manager 0% Download window launching at the startup, resulting the sim to launch windowed. That’s extremely annoying & that was to be fixed with the Sim Update.
Thank you.
Maybe they are delaying the update because of the horrible download speeds? Perhaps the finally realized this is in unacceptable issue plaguing more and more people?
This is excellent news, at least we will have no breakages or bad surprises.
If you look back through that issues related main thread you will see that it has been fixed for SU15.
I’m pretty sure that it will come out sometime in April. When in April though I don’t know.
Before MSFS24 comes out there will be plenty of indications, Youtube previews, interviews with the guys at Asobo and the such. I think at best it will be launched in Q3. Maybe even Q4 though and there’s even an outside chance that it could be in 2025.
If that’s delayed too until 2025 that would be disappointing. Hoping we get more details in June. I read somewhere that around June last year at announcement time Microsoft said more details would come out over the course of the next year. That has not happened. It looks clear it’ll be a literal year of near silence. They’re not great at keeping to their communication comments.
It would be disappointing I agree.
However, they are probably treading a new path here and trying out a lot of new stuff some of which will work and some stuff, which despite all efforts, won’t. Innovation or even evolution done right can take time and sometimes unexpected things crop up.
I think it’s best for the new sim, when it does launch, to be in a good state however long that takes.
I am guessing that the guys are already under quite a lot of pressure from MS to deliver the new sim within a certain time frame. I am not going to add to that in order to play it a few months earlier.
For me, it’s ready when it’s ready
At least they could release the Inibuilds’ A320neo. For who we aren’t in the beta, is a much awaited aircraft.
Since there’s not going to be no open beta (I assume) the new game will most likely need patching just like this game.
Well I watched on you tube our german friend take it for a flight from LOWW to LEMD on vatsim and he found some still problematic flaws with it, so not a beta tester and dont know about other issues but the inibuilds A320neo is defintely not ready from what I watched and his comments.
Allegedly, Speed in climb is a problem, aircraft not too responsive and weather map not working above FL250 among a few other things.
EFB looks nice though and I like the cockpit deeper colour.
