Wind and turbulence in the Career Mode is ridiculous

I can try it, but the mission objective lists a specific runway, so I just assumed it had to be that one.

Really tempted to reset my career and try somewhere else. Up in New England at least it’s the kind of weather I expect in Florida where I live now  IE hurricane lol.

Don’t really want to have to get my PPL all over again though :frowning: I’m thinking of letting the sim just run with my plane parked in the mission to see if the weather changes haha.

I really don’t think it has anything to do with where you select to start. The winds at my starting location are only 7 kts IRL according to METAR but they are WAAAAAY higher in the missions.

EDIT: I want to add that it does not appear to be all weather data that is bugged. I chose a mission in an area of PA that was having a snow storm, can’t remember if it was yesterday or the day before, and the snow storm was in game. The cloud formations, and rain all seem to be fairly accurate. It’s just the wind that makes no sense.

Something really messed up with the weather during career flights, it is like there’s two weather layers going on, could explain the erratic wind heading jumping around so much as well as the abnormally high wind speed wherever you fly.

I’ve tried just about everything I can think of to get rid of the bug, there is preset files for the weather but the flight plan is choosing to load live weather, tried editing the file to use the preset and turning off the live weather, but it fails to load, wish I hadn’t done my IFR training :unamused:

I reset my career and moved to my old stomping grounds of Ft Walton beach and the weather was fine. Was able to redo my PPL and the first mission finally.

This is just the devs deciding to give the simmers a challenge.
I have now stopped the career.
Can`t handle the insane winds and other bugs.

Yeah that’s the other thing. The missions keep labeling areas as VFR when they clearly are not.

TOD isnt really needed as missions display at specific times, while Night missions appear at night ( though I havent seen any yet ), so I don’t think Time of day is an issue at all.

It’s only the ā– ā– ā– ā–  weather.

Yes but saying an airport is VFR, and giving out missions to pilots that are NOT IFR qualified when the weather is clearly IMC is what I’m talking about.

Like you said nighttime is handled separately. I’m just talking IMC vs VMC

It is not called a challenge when you cannot take off your default Cessna 172, or even get ā€˜spawn killed’ by insane winds that tip your plane over on the ground. It is a glitch/bug.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: the winds in almost every mission are too high. The Cessna 172 gets bounced all over the place. I wound up restarting career because I thought the weather after instrument rating was causing it, after I started a new career I decided to try helicopters instead, after the first yellow mission, I tried a passenger mission but the wind is so high I can’t get my helicopter to one: fly in a straight line. And two: because I can’t get it to fly straight, I can’t get it into the blue brackets to fly the mission. It was so much of a fight to control the helicopter I just quit. I thought when you didn’t have your instrument rating you had to fly in good weather? Why is every mission putting me in high winds?

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Almost all the time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

1.do the first helicopter yellow mission to unlock passenger flight
2.do another one (mine was in New York near the first mission)
3.fly for a bit and the winds are really high.

I’m on PC and only level 9 so still flying first flight missions. I get winds and turbulence on every flight too. It’s enough that I have to pay attention and fly the airplane but doesn’t seem especially difficult to overcome.

I’m not a pilot and have never flown a 172. I have been a passenger in similar small aircraft. This doesn’t seem any more severe than what I experienced in those flights.

I hide the blue brackets and just fly the flight plan so I don’t know how well I am staying inside them. I’m not getting penalized.

It’s not super bad with the 172 the the helicopter is almost unflyable when the winds are like that sadly.

• i have exactly the same … location germany, but at other locations too

Fly more man - you will see what we are talking about soon enough on later missions.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Have this issue on every flight set to realism…70 knot winds 24/7 are not realistic.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Extreme winds in every scenario where realism is selected

Yeah mainland Europe is where I’ve definitely noticed it the most. I had 70 kt winds at one point as well between France/Germany/Belgium @ 2500…

The landings are straight up impossible in some instances. To the point I’ve resorted to slamming alt+n if its happening at landing to hope I can save the plane.

I’m noticing some improvement as I go south and east away from the French-German border… so maybe its some exaggeration of real world winds ?

ALT-N will cause another bug. you wont’t get the full mission payout.

A flight listed at 10000cr is supposed to payout about 100,000cr for your company - but as soon as you hit that ALT-N, you will likely end up getting 10K and the bonuses instead of the full amount - this is a bug.

So if you want your full 100K+ payout on 2-4 hour cargo flights - you cants skip.

I have had some scary landings - and I keep damaging my plane on landing - but im at least getting the payout i need as long as a glitch doesnt prevent complection of mission ( Cessna brakes glitch ).

And I thought it was just me.

This was nearly my whole flight yesterday (Much calmer today)
